I bought a 3 pack of Nockturnal S for my Beman ICS Bowhunter 340's and 2 of them seem a tad loose. They don't fall out or anything when shot and they shoot well. But those 2 are just a little too loose for my comfort. I have a doubt that they may have some issues if going through an animal on pass a through. Has anybody experienced this and if so do you have any little tricks to make them stick a little firmer in the back of the arrow?
Mine seemed a little more loose as well. Not enough to really bother me, but more than the factory nocks. I just left them as I only put them on to hunt. You could put a tiny little dot of glue on them, enough that you could break it free if you needed / wanted to.
Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah I'm experiencing prob exactly the same thing you did. Not loose enough to come out when shot but definitely a little more so than the factory nocks. I thought about a touch of glue aswell just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't mess up the functionality of the nock. I'd prefer to not use glue if anyone else knows another "trick of the trade".
I also thought maybe a once around with small piece of Teflon tape may work. Probably gonna give that a try later today.
The teflon tape is a good idea. Since the nockturnals use the little peg in the nock, unlike the lumenocks, glue wouldn't hurt. I still think your tape idea is better.
Your teflon tape idea might work but I've used plastic grocery bags to tighten mine up before. Just tear off a small piece of grocery bag, stick it over the opening of the arrow, and then push the nock down inside the arrow. You may have to double up on the plastic for a firmer fit. After the nock is in place, tear off the remaining plastic that is sticking out (sometimes I use an exacto knife to do this). You don't want any plastic hanging out or it may make noise in flight.
That's a great idea Finch!! I have a feeling that'll be a heck of a lot easier to do than the Teflon tape aswell. Good call man, thanks.
I hade the same problem but I used plastic food wrap and wrapped the nock near the battery and it worked very well.
That's funny you brought that up. I had a buddy call me today asking about them since he knew I used Nockturnals. He said his were loose in his Maximas. Looks like Nockturnal some manufacturing issues.
I put some string wax on mine just like I do on the field tip threads and the couple I have that turn easier hold a little better but they never seemed to mess the shot up. Just don't want one turning in the quiver and realizing it once I nock an arrow on a deer.
I've got 12 Red ones and haven't had that issue....but I bought mine back in the spring. Sorry to hear that...I love mine.
