Dang, you guys have stuff on the ground and I'm just now checking in :D Congrat-you-lations! I haven't actually shot my bow since the GTG, but a client did kill an antelope with it when his didn't show up on the plane... So i know it still works I probably won't get much hunting in until November but I'm alright with that. I might have to hit up Clinton and the boys in December when we go to IL or the holidays. Last year I had a really good buck that was bedding on my small 8 acre piece all summer until we turned the horses in there during the summer. He started bedding on the neighbors and got shot 10 yards from my fence with a rifle. This year, I split the pasture in half with a a hot wire and kept the horses out of where the deer bed and the grass is about chest deep. Three really nice deer were using it until the end of july and then they moved. I see them every now and then, so hopefully when they start getting pressured they'll head to my bedding area. Good luck to everyone, go ahead and kill them early and I'll just try to drive nails in the coffin at the end of the season :D
Looks like I'll be skipping out in stand time. 4 hours if sleep last night, 16 hours of moving 3 long bed truck loads with a 16' trailer and I'm toast. We will be done moving tomorrow. Still another truck and trailer load to unload and one more to pick up. So next weekend I'll be living back at the hunting property so stand time will finally come easy. Should give one a dirt nap soon. Josh and Christine, you guys are awesome. Christine, I don't think you know how to kill a small deer do ya? Looks like a horse! Josh, way to go man. Nice buck! Way to get us in the board! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Saw a brute a couple nights ago but 56 yards was as close as he got. Didn't feel comfortable taking that shot. Harvest has fired up so ill trade the deer stand for a combine for a few weeks. Congrats to all who have killed and good luck to the rest!
Awesome work getting us started Christine and way to keep the ball rolling Josh! I'll get in the stand for the first time this upcoming Saturday.
Great job Christine and Josh. Glad you two could get us started. I've only had one sit so far this year and got skunked. The trail cameras have been terrible for me. I've had tons of does, but the bucks have been very illusive. The neighbor is running cows on the 40 east of my property. I think that has pushed those mature deer off their traditional core area. I'm hoping once the corn is all out, I'll start to see more bucks. Lots of corn this year around here. If not, I'll have to come up with a backup plan. Maybe try and hunt the conservation area near me, or head up north and hunt on my wife's grandparents farm. Either way, I'll be hunting hard come October and November.
Man team WAY TO GO. We are off to an awesome start. With any luck maybe I will try to add to the score by the end of the week.
awesome buck josh! and great job on the doe flyguy! tomorrow is opening day for me ill be sitting in the morning and afternoon calling for rain all day but I'm pretty sure I can smack a doe in my morning spot maybe even a buck will come through who knows. Again congrats guys! lets keep it up!
Nice work Fly! Best of luck to all who are getting out. My season starts Saturday night on a new out of state lease with big potential. I will not have a doe tag here.
Nice job Christine and Josh! Gonna give it a try in the morning, my first hunt of the new season. Don't know when I can go again so hopefully something will come by. Thanks for the prayers, wife is going to need all of them.
