Ok so i thought my bow was shooting great untill i started paper tuning it (or trying to) i kept getting a low tear of about 2 to 3" at about 10 feet away with bare shaft using 100 gr tip. I ended up having to move the nock point up about 1/4 from level when rest is fully upright to get decent holes. Seems like a lot of angle! I thought with drop aways you had to set nock point almost level? Is there something im overlooking? The bow was tuned by a pro shop about 3 months ago. The front of the arrow is centered onthe berger hole. Im shooting 65 lbs 28.5 draw carbon express maxima hunter 350 with 100 grain tip. Anyone with a simular setup or someone with some info would be greatly appreaciated!!
With bare shaft you mean no fletchings right? If thats the case your paper tuning is pointless. When you add the fletchings it will change everything.
Yes im using one with no fletching. I was under the understanding that was the correct way to see how your bow is truelly shooting cause your not letting the fletching correct the flight of the arrow. I did it with fletching and had pretty much same results but not as extreme.
If you get your bow tuned with bare shafts it will truly be tuned. Some bows are just finicky an normal setup will not work on it you have to do different things to it I have seen bows that would not tune with one person trying to shoot it hand it to somebody else an shoot bullets that's just how things go Sent from my hand held hunting device
I agree with what deerhunter said. as far as having the arrows fletched or bare I was told by my proshop to paper tune with the arrows fletched because of the weight difference at the back of the arrow.
It could be more than a rest issue. Are you using stock PSE strings? it's highly probable that they have moved and your cam is out of sync. PSE strings are literally junk, you have to watch them. Nearly EVERY one of the hundreds of PSE I have set-up will always line up directly on the tuning lines machined into your riser, providing you have a matching arrow to your specs.
That is totally not true. Actually it's one of if not the best starting tuning method to use. If you can get a good hole with a bare shaft, your good. Fletchings correct flight issues instantly...well pretty quick where a bare shaft has nothing to correct issues. Matter of fact, once I correct cam lean by twisting yokes or cables, I have bullet holes while shooting bare shafts through paper. Then once a sight goes on, complete a 10/10 tune and follow up with a walk back and the bow is ready!
