After 24 years of marriage I have learned that KARMA is a ***** so I keep (or try too) my mouth shut. First Husker game is Saturday. Archery season opens on Sunday. NASCAR is Sunday night. Holiday Monday...life is good
In this bow club no one keeps their mouth shut. Then again we are all really good friends. Some of us, like the guy I was talking about, are more like family.
Welcome to the team, and you're not late at all so there's no need to be sorry. It's only been three days. How did your hunt go? Any luck?
That's outstanding! Congratulations, and what a way to check into a team: With trophy pics! You should post those pics on the "Live from the Stand" thread. The guys watching that thread are hungry for some kill pics!
Okay guys. We are now waiting on only one member to check in. I suppose we could go ahead and discuss team names and team captain nominations and either wait until merlinbyler checks in to make a final decision or see if we have a huge majority in favor of a choice. The team name suggestions we have so far are listed below. If you can think of any other ideas let us know or if you prefer one of the ones below you can cast your vote. "Shaft Slingers' "Nock n' Roll" "American Stickers" "Full Draw Fanatics" "Full Draw Freaks" As far as a team captain goes, I know that Foodplot19 has been a team captain a few times before so I'll nominate him.
So, for those of you who don't know me (which I believe is everyone but Foodplot19), here's a little background on me. My name is Johnny and I'll be 56 next month. I retired from the U. S. Navy in May 2008 after being in for 24 1/2 years and worked at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital from 2008 to August 31, 2018 when I retired. We sold our house in Munford, Tennessee and bought a small cabin on 8 acres of woods in rural Missouri. With the exception of a few meth-heads in the area it's absolutely perfect. They haven't been any trouble partly because I have a gated perimeter fence with six dogs inside and possibly because they all know that I'm retired military, I'm armed and I earned my expert rifle and pistol shot medals. I've hunted my entire life but I've only been bowhunting since 2007. I'll be kicking off my season with a week long hunt for velvet bucks on 7 September in Kentucky. The Missouri season starts 15 September and I believe the Arkansas season starts on 01 October and doesn't end until 28 February, so I have almost six full months of hunting ahead of me. I do love to gun hunt too so my Marlin 45/70 will see some action as will my muzzleloader.
My name is Marshall and I just turned 26. I have currently been a police officer for the past 4 years for a department of approximately 800 officers. I work midnight shift which runs from 2300-0730 so I can basically hunt every evening which is awesome. I grew up on the Eastern shore of Maryland but now currently live just outside of Annapolis. I have been hunting since I was probably about 11 years old, and specifically bowhunting since I was around 16. My hunting season here in Maryland runs from Sept 6 through Jan 31. I use to mainly hunt public land all over the state but this year I was lucky enough to pick up a farm about 15 minutes from my house that is about 200 acres. I have already gotten a few pictures of whitetails that I would be happy to take with my bow so I am looking forward to the rest of the hunting season!
We have quite a few police officers on the BH.COM forums and I have to say that my hat is off to you folks. I really appreciate what you do for all of us.
I will 2nd your vote for "foodplot19" to be the spoke person for the group. That said, i seem to always have issues when posting a picture so I might/will need somebody for step by step assistance when Im lucky enough to drop string. As for me, I am 54, currently the chief of police in a small town 6 miles outside of Omaha. I live 32 miles to the south and have the great luck of hunting two properties (adjoining) that are only 6 miles from my house. Last week I scouted another property with an officer and we will be hanging stands there on Monday. As for the team name.....I will vote for shaft slingers my email is [email protected] if needed my cell # is 402-203-6874 if you care to share the pictures
Two police officers on the team. That's awesome. Thank you for all that you do out there to keep us all safe. As for uploading images on the forum, the simplest way is to download the Tapatalk app and open the forums in that app. It makes loading pics a breeze.
Shot a bunch at 60 yards today. A few bad shots that I could tell the second I released the arrow but 80% were in a 6-8 inch group. Can’t wait to get back out when the season opens!
Hello all, I have hunted all my life, archery since I was 12. I am retired Navy and currently working as an Operation Manager over Navy Contracts. I travel quite a bit for work and at times it really jacks up hunting season. this year I have 4 weeks of vacation saved up for hunting family land in North Central Kansas and my property in Louisiana. I found BH.com last year and joined. downloading tapatalk as well I vote for Shaft Slingers
Hey guys, My name is Dan. I'm 48 and live an hunt in North Central Ohio. I've been bow hunting and hunting since I was 14. I'm also former military, did a couple years in the Army after high school(mechanized infantry). Been working in health care ever since. I do all my deer hunting on a farm I lease. Unfortunately the farmer was unable to plant any beans or corn this spring due to the very wet weather we had here. In addition a 30 acre section of woods is to be logged this fall. All that will make things a little challenging but I remain optimistic.
