This, after last year when I was blanked for the first time in many years I’m not fooling around or taking anything for granted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I hear ya I got busted by a large 5x5 & nothing else within range for the rest of the year I’ve moved stands to different trees & will be trying wyndscent this year Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I only seen 3 shooters last year. I had a bunch of does and small bucks I could have taken but just took it for granted that I would have time in the late season. Didn’t happen. With any luck I will have a couple good bucks around this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know the feeling. the last three years I am rocking and rolling, then BAM work and life get in the damn way. this year I am taking control. I have 3 - 1 weeks trips home to Kansas and hunt. I will not take anything for granted, of course I would love a wall hanger but the goal is to fill all 5 (2 Kansas and 3 Louisiana) tags between Kansas and Louisiana. Those of you kicking it off this weekend, GOOD LUCK and Sling some shafts true.
You have to keep in mind that most will be does. Like I said, Kentucky is overrun with deer but it's still a one buck state. Where I live in Missouri has a huge deer population also and it's a two buck state. Where I hunt in Arkansas is a different story. There is a good deer population but those deer are educated beyond belief and are very hard to kill. It's the only place I've ever hunted where the lead doe is constantly looking up in the trees for hunters. You make one mistake and it's game over.
I am still trying to decide if I want to shoot the first doe I have a shot at. I probably won't because on two different occasions I've shot a doe in this patch of woods and it put the bucks on alert and they went the other way.
I am a big believer (in my own opinion) in the earn a buck program. One must shoot a doe in order to shoot a buck & also nothing smaller than a 3x3 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Typically I will shoot my doe in the late season. It’s just easier to get them out of the woods. They slide across the snow so easily and typically the crops are down so I don’t have to go around them. This year I don’t have any crops to worry about so I will have a different approach. hell down here the does are just dropping fawns. I pulled cards last night and have 5 does with little ones, two sets of twins. then our rut starts mid January. its a crap shoot.
We have that same doe up here. I shoot her the first chance I get! Sent from my SM-G965U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
PA opening day is October 5th and I am really starting to feel the itch. Sadly, work has been hectic for the last month or so which has caused a lack of woods time for prep. I only hunt public land currently so it's not like I have a lot of work to do besides find the deer and get my stands set, but I'm usually have multiple spots selected by now and an inventory of the deer in the area. We will see how going in blind works out this year since I hunted the same areas last season.
Goodmorning all. Those of you headed out this weekend for your openers be safe, be stealthy and May you sling your shafts true. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Slow day at work so I was able to duck out early. I’m going to put out a couple more cameras and check a few cards after I get some lunch. Good luck to those making final preparations and getting out this weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nothing to share from the card pull. Doe for the most part. One possible shooter. I did find one of my cameras that I put out last December. Card filled up by Feb but the batteries were still good. Love those Energizer ultimate lithium batteries. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm just sitting here killing time. My stands are in place and in just 12 hours I'll be driving to climb in one. I almost hit a doe with my truck driving over earlier. The combines are running and corn is being shelled all over and the deer are heading into the wood plots. Should be interesting.
