I shoot 7595 GoldTip Expedition Hunters. I put a Vapor Trail string on my bow and added a string loop this present season. I shot a million arrows this spring/summer/fall and never had an arrow fall off in the yard. On three seperate occassions while drawing on deer this year, I had three different arrows fall off my string. Two of which I re-nocked and made the kill shot. The arrow falls off last second and I catch it in my arms, let down, re-nock and fire. I even pinched the nock together with my teeth after the first time, and it still happened. It only happened to me while on stand. Maybe I am drawing that much slower and for some reason the nock pops off when my dropaway springs up? Any suggestions on nocks that "snap" on the string better. I currently use the Standard GT nock weighing in at 11.5GRs. I have never ever had this problem in all my years hunting. I don't really want to change my string, and I am not getting any nock pinch. The string has to be smaller in dia., but I haven't measured them yet. Help! I can't go another season like this. Eric
The nock points have probably slid closer together from your string loop and are pinching your arrow off. This is especially problematic with short ATA bows and long draw lengths. Retie your string loop and nocking points and be sure that nothing touches the bottom of the nock at full draw. You may even need to reserve your string if your serving is separating and causing things to move.
Rob, It basically has a brand new VT string and I'm not getting any obvious nock pinch. I will figure something out. Thanks.
