As I usually do, congrats for having the first official points fellas....let it be your last bahaha! Ruger way to go.
Headed back out tonight to see if I can add some antlers. Tomorrow morning I'm headed to my new spot where I've been watching some great bucks.
Set a couple cam's out today on a farm I just started hunting last year. I have to say it looked pretty good fields that were corn last year are all green fields and there are acorns everywhere! Maybe someone can help me out on this one. I have another piece of property I can hunt and there is about 50 acres of beans growing on it. I've never hunted around beans but I know the deer love em. Next chance I get i'll get some cams in there. Our season opens Oct. 1st should I be spending time hunting them early if there still up? When they are harvested do alot get left behind possibly making it a late season honey hole?
In my experience once the beans turn brown the deer don't mess with them much unless they are left standing till late season. Early on when they are still green they hammer the leaves. If I had to choose a food source to hunt in October I'd pick acorns over a standing bean field every time.
I agree with Ruger.. I don't have personal experience hunting over beans, however I hear from just about everyone that once they turn brown the deer find a different food source. I'd find acorns if I were you NYMark and return to the beans late season when the deer start hitting the pods again.
Couldn't wait til Saturday so just started filming the neighbors... they're probably alittle freaked out, lol.
