Slow day here, sat a total of 7 hours today and saw 1 doe. Calm before the storm. Temps drop about 15 degrees from Friday to Saturday this week(at least that's what they say now) so first all day sit will be this coming weekend.
Last morning sit for VT bow season. So far haven't even been able to draw back on anything this VT season. Headed to NJ for Nov1. Should be prime rut. Will hopefully see some buck with some size on them in bow range!
Congrats NYMark.! I've been trying to put down 50 points myself, as I type I have a fawn bedded 30 yards in front of me... Cant bring myself to shoot it, hoping it's mom walks by... Or dad. Saw my first 2.5 year old buck of the season yesterday morning.! Hopefully it's a sign of things to come.. Good luck fellas.!
What's up y'all? I hope everything is going well. I'm hunting this evening. A front is moving in tonight and into tomorrow morning. It's going to be warm this evening, almost 80, but maybe they'll be up and moving with the front coming in. I'll be climbing in a tree tomorrow afternoon as well right when the rain pushes out. They should definitely be moving then. We'll see. I'm holding off on a doe at this point until the late season. I don't shoot does this time of the year when they are coming in and could bring a buck in at any moment. I've got a couple of target bucks from the mid-140's or better. Hoping for a chance at one. I'll let you know how it goes.
Good luck DD/MO.! I'm back in MI until Thursday then headed back to WI for a 4 day trip. Bucks are definitely starting to move... last night my buddy and I saw a buck we call 'Junior' on his feet in bow range and as I mentioned already Saturday morning I saw a nice 2.5 year old bumping a doe. Picked up a couple cameras yesterday and had a couple new bucks, one is a stud.! I'm hoping with the cold front coming in Thursday and Friday of this week we have some good opportunities to kill.. Good luck guys.!
Thanks for the congrats. Heading to Ohio on Saturday for the week. Hopefully I can add a few more points! Just posted the doe to the scorecard.
Well things got very interesting today. Browning Trail Cameras is one of my sponsors for my show. I check in with them from time to time just to see if I can do anything for them...continuing to develop our relationship. While checking in with them today, my contact says, "Yes, there is something you could do if you can. It's really short notice, so if you can't do it, I understand. I've got an open spot on a hunt with an outfitter up near Pike County, IL. The hunt is now through November 2 so if you can go and hunt a couple days, that would be great." HAHA! You dang right I'm in!!! Leaving in the morning and hope to be hunting in the evening. Staying until Halloween morning so hopefully I can get it done up there. I'll let you know how it goes!
I'm hitting it hard this weekend. Rubs and scrapes are starting to show up in my area, the combines are rolling again, and small game season opens Saturday. Hoping those things combined will have the deer on their feet.
had a giant 10 pointer at 25 yards tonight. don't know what happened. shot right over his back. almost sick to my stomach over it. it was a deer I have no pics of and have never seen before....... im guessing he was pushin 160.......yay me.
Sorry to hear... never easy missing on a good opportunity. Get back on the saddle and redeem yourself
thanks for the support fellas. hopefully ill get another chance tomorrow night. deer are really movin good now. temps have dropped the last few days. highs today and tomorrow are only in the 50's, with overnight lows in the thirtys. bucks are cruising for those first does in cycle. hopin the wind stays right for that stand. its in a great spot, but I can only hunt it with wind blowing to the south..... good luck to everybody....lets start putting the hammer down!!!
It starts today fellas.! I'm back in WI and I'm feeling like pretty optimistic. Nice cold front rolling in tonight and already have 4-5 new bucks hitting a scrape that we put a camera on just 4 days ago. Good luck to all hitting the woods..
Nothing to report with my hunts at Performance Outdoors. My biggest encounter has been a 125" 3-year old that bedded under my stand this morning. That's it. I'm hunting tomorrow morning then headed back home. Hopefully I can get it done tomorrow morning. I'll let y'all know.
