I'll be on stand tomorrow night going to hed into a spot I haven't touched all year.. Should be exciting at the least. Good luck guys!
I've been out 6 or 8 times so far this year. Plenty of opportunities at does, just been holding off hoping to catch that buck still in his summer pattern. I had that one encounter with him in daylight but he hung out 150-200 yards away. He was occasionally hanging with a group of does and fawns, so every time a few does would move in, I was expecting him to be not far behind. I haven't seen him in daylight since, only a couple night photos. So, I think I'm going to smack a doe next time out. Hopefully tomorrow if I can sneak out. I'll let y'all know how it goes.
The episode of my 2012 bowhunting contest doe and buck aired this morning on the Hunt Channel. It's the full episode, minus one commercial break, but if you want to check it out, here it is... Sat in a tree today and was literally getting rained on by acorns. Got skunked I'll get back at it this weekend when a big cold front pushes through.
was gonna go sit tonight...but weve had heavy rain all day......and I don't think its gonna let up till tonight some time........ hopefully ill get a crack tomorrow evening. good luck to everyone! lets start whackin some deer, gentlemen!!!!
Saw nothing but does and fawns this morning. Another three weeks and I will start sitting on the other half of the farm. That's usually where bucks will cruise and there is a lot of bedding area on that side. This is the first year I have stayed out of there until the rut and I'm hoping it pays off.
Sounds like a good plan.. hope this pays off for you. I too am sitting back a couple extra weeks to hunt some better spots in hopes of catching it at the best time.
VT Bow opener today. Been in stand since 6 sitting over a clover bean plot. So far nothing. We will see!
First day in the stand for me. Everything perfect other than the 20-30 mph winds. Debated on not even going but need to check a trail cam here anyways so I'll give it a couple hours. No deer yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Live stand report: After 2 days of rain we have a break in the weather, still cold (upper 30s) with a lite SW wind. I'm back on an oak ridge hoping the deer are ready to get back at crushig the acorns. I saw a nice 8 here last year hoping he shows up with 20+ inches on his head.
