I'll be in a tree this Friday and Saturday.. Only to return to WI on Wednesday for a week long hunt. I don't know about you guys but Halloween week is my favorite time of year to be in a tree. Good luck guys.
I'm hunting tomorrow night. Buddy hunted the same stand tonight on the soy beans and grunted a big 8 out. Couldn't get it in the last 10 yards before some drove by on a 4 wheeler. Wasn't enough to spook it but he turned around and walked back into the woods. Here's to hoping tomorrow night I can have the same experience.
Man I'd be hot. We have a spot on the farm that people like to drive by slowly and look at the deer down this gravel road. Never fails, when your in the tree and they deer are coming your way, someone's coming down the road! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
got my work done a couple days earlier than expected. tomorrow it is the start of my 3 week bowhunting vacation. pulling cards tomorrow to get the scoop on whats happening out there.
Leaving tomorrow morning for my cabin. Should be a great weekend my dad was up last weekend and averaged 20 deer a sit which is normal for us there! If the deer are running good I'll wait on a doe but if it's a little slow I'll try to put a doe down.
going to work on Saturday. calling for 20+ mph wind. never have any luck in high wind situations. next week all in the 50s for high temps. time to get serious.
RutCation is coming in fast! Should be finishing up harvest by Sunday! Should make it out sat and sun morning for sure!
I'm not real good at reading tops but I would definitely look for a place on the saddle to the south. And I would have a stand on the ridge top finger to the North and West. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
The creek will probably have a couple good crossings at the S shaped bend to the south west and then to the east. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Yellow - so thick you can't walk through. Deer literally have tunnels through the brush. Purple - Very wet low lands Light Blue - stand locations Dark blue - Water
i would find the skinniest part of the ridge top and have a stand there for the rut. I would also have a stand next to the thick stuff on the downwind side on top if possible.
good news guys I have multiple shooters at all stands. after a month long soak at my honey hole rut stand I have four new shooters there as well. going to be a fun season starting Monday.
Good luck everyone getting out this weekend. I'm still holding out a little hope but doesn't look promising at this point. Hopefully in the next week things slow down a little and I can start spending a little more time in the stand the last week of the month.
everything starting to get flooded here. been raining nonstop for two straight days with no break. I think we are at 5" or more now.
We got quite a bit here in IL but it wasn't 5". Tough to do anything but duck hunt in those conditions Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
