As I said, I would really appreciate your help.

On December 6th I will be running a half marathon during the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend. I signed up this morning as a "Bronze Level St. Jude Hero", which means that I committed myself to raising $500 for the kids of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in conjuction with this event.

I don't really know that many of you, but as I've said before, my wife and I both work at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. I work in the Ambulatory Care Unit and I see many of these children every day, so it doesn't take much persuasion at all for me to donate to the cause of St. Jude. I do so quite often.

I am asking anyone who is willing to click on the link below. It is a link to my fund raising page. If you can find it in your heart to make a donation, it would be greatly appreciated. Not just by me or the staff here at St. Jude, but by hundreds of children who are in the fight of their young lives.

Any amount you could give would be greatly appreciated.

This is a great cause. Currently I am over committed to other causes and will not be helping at this time. I would encourage others who may be positioned to contribute to do so as St. Jude is worthy.

Good Luck with your run and training... Thumbs Up!

I don't have the funds but I think I may run some kind of entry giveaway through Small Acre Hunting with the entire proceeds going to this, if I have enough time to put it together...when is the deadline to give?

That sounds fantastic Ty! I'm not exactly sure what the deadline is. I believe it's in December, but I'll have to check. I sent an e-mail to find out and I'll let you know as soon as I get an answer.

Done Johnny. It's not much, but it is a very worthy cause.

Soon as you let me know I will put together a little prize package for people who go on and donate a small amount (see if something like $2.00 is accepted or so)...people will be entered for a chance to win and help out a worthy cause!

    Ty,

I just spoke to the committee. The deadline would be 03 December. Also, they said that they believe the minimum donation that could be made on the website would be $5.

    I really appreciate the effort!

Awesome...I think enough guys would do that to make it worth it....will hopefully put something together soon....you can raise above $500 right, like it doesn't cut off donations right?

Yes sir, I can go over $500. The more money I can raise for St. Jude the better. I can assure you that they won't ever cap donations. :D

Well, yesterday afternoon I ran for the first time since before I retired from the Navy in March 2008. I only did two miles, and I can tell that I have a L O N G way to go. I'm walking a little funny today.

I look forward to getting past the "being sore" stage.

I used to run, so I knew going into this what it would be like, including this first run. I also know that in about three to four weeks I'll make it past the "dreading it" phase and transition into the "looking forward to it" stage. That's when I'll really start to build on distance.

Put me in for $25.00. I'll give it to you next Saturday, when I see you.

C'mon, one of you wealthy yahoo's pry open your wallet and match my donation or better yet, match Johnny's.
If three people double Johnny's donation, I'll leave BHC until at least October 1st. If five double Johnny's donation, I'll leave permanently.

How about this: The first person who will match my donation can choose any avatar they like - ANY avatar - and I'll display it for an entire year. If you're wondering how much I donated all you have to do is click on the link. It shows the names and amounts (unless they chose to remain anonymous).
