I wondered that as well. I concluded that those who don't want to vote for Obama, but like the idea of voting for Mitt even less, might take to Ryan. In that situation, maybe he pulls some votes for Mitt. But my first thought was all this pick does is make those that were really, really, excited about voting Republican will be really, really, really, really, excited now.
Vito and ga I agree. His other issue is he that he is an easy target being he sponsored a budget that ends SS and Medicare. There were only three republicans I would have not picked Ryan Walker Christy Their negatives out weight their positives(in politics).
I disagree. It was a great pick. It will make the people who are on the fence and want some fiscal responsiblity back in government vote for R&R. Whether it happens or not is to be determined if they get elected. Besides, who did you expect him to pick as a running mate? A Democrat? Though this article is funny, its also makes some good points..... http://www.theonion.com/articles/admit-it-i-scare-the-everloving-****-out-of-you-do,29160/?ref=auto
Sure, if fiscal responsibility is the only thing they are basing their vote on. And Mitt is still the main man on the ticket, which is tough to overcome.
Maybe Mitt wanted someone who could pass for his son. Seriously, take a look... its like dad and lad day at the Fair.
Is he fiscal responsible? Why? Because he said he was? Checking out his voting record he voted for Medicare to be expanded and no child left behind. Both grew goverment and cost more money without ways to fund either of them. Talk is cheap
Yes.. another bonehead move by the once glorious party... the GOP. I swear.. who's running them (besides Cheney). Ryan.. what can I say that has already not been said by even your own party. No one understands the move.. and you've probably lost Ohio now (which you needed). The ticket of Romney/Ryan will spend us unto our graves as we increase (in dramatic fashion) our budget on you guessed it America.. defense. That's right.. more money to defense and less to the needy and poor.. Yeah! Their new campaign slogan should read "Let them eat guns". Yeah! Where are the days of great leaders.. where is our generations Ike? A great republican who warned us 50 years ago of where his own party was headed. Damn.. was he right. Not that any of Ryan's policies really even make a difference since the office of VP is basically just a headline with no political clout. Ryan's just there to grab those Tea Party yahoos and hopefully sway them to vote right.. his fiscal policy will never see the light of day (and thank the heavens for that). What I don't understand about the party I once voted for without blinking.. is where did it go? Since when do we nominate guys so far one side their extreme? The hardest thing for myself to swallow is how so many GOP voters still follow a party this extreme - it's insane.. naive.. and downright stupid. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...-on-defense-and-much-less-on-everything-else/ A great article by perhaps the most conservative political writers who exist today.. cutting up Ryan's fiscal plan as inept at best. This guy was Reagan's fiscal dude so he knows a thing or two about what he's talking about. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/14/opinion/paul-ryans-fairy-tale-budget-plan.html Nice move GOP... another idiot while you let the good candidates walk because corporate America is putting too much money in your parties politics. Thanks for alienating myself (and millions of others) once again.
And the ticket of Obama and Biden will not do the same?? We will go bankrupt and jobless as we cater to the needy and poor. I understand that this country is screwed regardless and I think that is what you are getting at.
Show me the facts. How will giving money to the poor have us go broke? Show me. I'll wait until you do but I won't hold my breath. Obama/Biden are not my first choice.. but they aren't looking to bankrupt America with heavy defense spending.. they cut it.. haven't gone to Iran.. haven't gone to Syria.. they've let the CIA do its thing without putting billions of more taxpayer money into future conflicts that do nothing but support the military-industrial complex.
I don't have to show you. You show me where the money comes from that we hand out to 100 million welfare recipients. I know you know the answer, so I won't make you embarrass yourself. Keep handing out money. Yep, that's the answer. I mean, hell, they print more out every day, right?
. 4 years after the republican party ran one of the most moderate conservatives, and lost. I'm not sure I follow your logic here. The fact that people are even considering re-electing Obama just plain blows me away. They have accomplished nothing in their 3 plus years, besides ramming healthcare reform down our throats. Knowing that the majority of Americans opposed the bill. We cannot afford another 4 years of this, I'd vote for Donald Duck before I'd ever cast a vote for Obama. Our country doesn't need hope and change, we need to go on a diet, a spending diet, a wasting diet, and a legislative diet.
Ah.. I see.. a graph... nice try though. In 2006.. the U.S. spent about 60 billion on social welfare programs. That same year.. we spent 100 billion on corporate welfare. That same year we spent.. about 419 billion on defense.. (that we are aware of). http://www.defense.gov/releases/release.aspx?releaseid=8203 http://thinkbynumbers.org/governmen...fare-statistics-vs-social-welfare-statistics/ So again.. I ask.. how do the poor people getting handouts make us as a country go poor? Again.. I'll wait for your reply but I won't hold my breath.
I'm really aghast how some of you with young children are not up in arms about the deficit spending that we are experiencing. Our children will inevitably pay for our glutinous spending in many ways, but mostly through highly oppressive taxation which in turn stifles growth and limits opportunities for finical independents. far to many of my generation failed to learn from our parents the simple rule of living within our means. The failed growth potential and failing dollar have depreciated our homes values and our earning potential causing many people to loose not only their homes but their hopes and dreams. We need a more educated voter base if we ever expect better elected officials.
No.. no.. McCain was a good candidate. He just wasn't backed by his own party. They refused to give him money to run.. since some of his policies included limited congressional terms etc. (Frankly.. I like the guy and voted for him.) And of course.. in ridiculous fashion he chose Palin as his running mate. Uggh. I agree we need to go on a spending diet.. so does most of America. However, you clearly are unaware of Romney's track record.. and his current policies he's looking to enforce if elected (they are confusing since they change nearly everyday). He wants more money on defense.. LOTS MORE. And he wants YOU to pay for it. And the healthcare bit is getting old.. Romney is not going to let it go.. it was his brainchild to begin with.
Social welfare is a tremendous burden on our economy and is growing at an alarming rate. The 2012 Farm Bill spends nearly $1 trillion and is 60 percent more costly than the 2008 version of the bill. Yet, proponents say it “saves money.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Only one question needs to be asked in order to determine if the Farm Bill saves money: “Does it cost less than the last Farm Bill?” When it comes to the 2012 Farm Bill the answer is, “Absolutely not.” Passed every five years, the Farm Bill is an omnibus spending bill that funds hundreds of Department of Agriculture programs. The 2008 Farm Bill was estimated to spend $604.1 billion over 10 years, as calculated by the Congressional Budget Office. The 2012 Farm Bill is estimated to spend $969.2 billion over the next 10 years. That’s a whopping 60 percent increase! The bill’s single biggest cost-driver is the massive expansion of the food stamp program—a cost supporters of the bill aren’t willing to recognize.
I hate the idea of spending money on keeping our country safe, but I dig giving handouts to the public. You have me convinced Duke. I'm voting for Obama. Do you have an extra "Obama 2012" shirt I can where to the polls?
