Don't get me wrong, I have no problem going to church and do so most Sundays, out of season. But I never feel closer to God than when I'm in a tree stand. We have most of our best coversations during those times.
It's funny how democratic states will fight tooth and nail to keep the word "God" off of any and everything, and yet Sunday hunting is not allowed because of the religious background... Sounds like they want their own interpretation of "Separation of Church and State." Its... sadly comedic.
Good points, I go to church every sunday morning, the church of the woods The opening sunrise is fantastic. I know i need to send that stand, I'll get it there before the season starts!!!
I believe there is a quote from the great Fred Bear to support you josh. "When a hunter is in the tree stand with high moral values and with the proper hunting ethics and richer for the experience, that hunter is 20 feet closer to god".....Fred bear
Being an assistant pastor myself, I don't have a problem with someone wanting to hunt on Sundays. I'm going fishing this weekend and will miss church on Sunday but I will still commune with my God. Germ, I appreciate your feelings but I think you're being a little flippant and disrespectful of my God. Notice the capital "G".....you omitted that in one of your postings. There's nothing really biblical that prohibits Sunday hunting and I agree with the posting that says some great prayer time can come from a deer stand.
KA .... take it easy ... Germ is TYPO MAN :d ... and even if he wasn't, don't judge him by capitolizing the G ... lots of people never even heard about that ..... chapter and verse on that one, KA..
can't hunt in Va on Sun.. I think it's stupid especially on private land. for guys that can't hunt during the week it really sucks, thank God i can hunt every afternoon for the most part and sat..
Tony, I have to agree on the hypocrisy thing. The "No hunting on Sunday" is an old blue law that has never been lifted because the liberals haven't challenged it. The liberals like restricting that freedom, but they've challenged most all of the other "blue laws" that were on the books in most states. To me it is an absolute case of hypocrisy when you tell me I can't hunt on Sunday based on a law that was based on Christianity, but my kids cannot pray in school. While I attend church many sundays when I'm not working through the year, my pastor and I have an understanding, that I'm gonna be more likely to be close to GOD if I'm in a treestand than in an uncomfortable pew looking out the window wishing I was hunting ignoring his sermon anyhow. And I don't hunt all the sundays during the season, but I do skip out on church occasionally and hope for the opportunity to arrow a deer.
I killed a nice 8 point in NY this year on Sunday. Only saw a spike on Saturday. They will get my NR license money every year because I can hunt 2 days per weekend. Slug guns are a pain though.
More deer are wounded and maimed on Sundays than on any other day. This is due primarily to the fact that all the ethical people are at church, leaving nothing but unethical ingrates running drunk and wild through the woods, shooting everything that moves.
