Cubs vs Cardinals... Sosa vs Mcgwire.

I served as designated driver for a few trips to these games. I was never too entertained by the games but getting my friends and family in and out of the city without anyone getting arrested or physically assaulted was always amusing.

    Go Cubs!

A baseball player used steroids in the 90s and/or 00s...what else is new? I don't even flinch when I hear those reports anymore, no matter who it is. I became numb to them about 4 years ago. Its a cheater's sport so I expect there to be cheating.

The guy is rich beyond belief. He is lucky he didn't lie to Congress like some other athletes have done over the years.

    Let's not fool ourselves.

With these HGH's being so undetectable....you could have (read - WERE) talking about (________) professional and most amateur athletics.

I agree, but baseball and track and field seem to get caught the most. Besides PEDs, baseball has corked bats, vaseline, razor blades, etc. Maybe there are just more ways to cheat in baseball than other sports.

he cheated and finally admitted it, we all knew it. it's unfortunate that it's basically in all sports and til there are real consequences, like you get caught, you never play again and forfeit your contract and money, it'll continue to happen.

I attribute this ONLY to those sports CARING more than most others. Do you REALLY think HGH use/abuse isn't as (or more) rampant in football? Basketball?

This is nothing more (to me) than widespread complacency in those sports (and likely several more)....and widespread acceptance of their use as the status-quo.

I don't view that attitude as "better", or those sports as "cleaner".

It is real simple. Make a list of banned substances. If a player is caught taking any of those substances, then he is given the "death penalty" and kicked out of the league the first time he tests positive. That goes for any sport.

Guys, in college, an athlete that tests positive for steroids is suspended for 365 days. In the pro's they don't even match the college sanction levels. They give a pro football player a 4 game suspension for testing positive for steroids. WHAT a joke. I played with a guy and was good friends with a football player who played two years in the NFL as a linebacker. He got so worked up about playing in the NFL and gaining weight that he took steroids. He was suspended his second year in the league and the team for which he played never resigned him. GAME over. Another one of my college teammates tested positive and was suspended for 365 days. I was tested at least 4 times in college.

It was a fore gone conclusion that he was juicing. While he certainly does not have my admiration, neither do the owners or administrators of MLB,all they did during that time period is stuff there pockets full of money while the steroid boys brought baseball back to life.
They are bigger hypocrits than the players! None of them are manning up to their complicity.

I say strip him of all his *'s records. I considered cheating in professional sports a disgrace. You're role models for children. Baseball is old time heritage I think it dishonors the greats like Babe & Lou and I'm not even a huge baseball fan.

Of course I said the same thing when the Patriots got caught cheating and what they'd get... a couple fines. Strip them of their championship. That'll send a message.

It is funny for you guys to say baseball is a cheater sport, and dead. You think Julius Peppers got to be 290 lbs and still run a 4.4 40. Yeah, football players are clean, they just always get caught taking a diet supplement for weight control (see williams and williams for the vikings, both pushing 300lbs, but taking a diet pill) How do you think quarterbacks and cornerbacks are the size of line backers and so on and so forth.

You are a good player making 1.2 mil a year...less skilled players are getting millions more and you know why..make no mistake gentleman...it is all about money, the players juice to make more and the fans pay out to watch them perform and break records.

We say Mac should be banished, and Barry should not even be allowed at a park...remember that in 15 years when A-rod goes inot the hall because he ask for forgiveness.
