I am curious about something. What if instead of mandating all people to have insurance; insurance companies were done away with in their entirety? No more government run, court legislated, lawyer patrolled bureaucracies. No more automatic entitlements for those unable or unwilling to pay. What if we had a pay as you go medical system where doctors and hospitals were forced to deal with issues like the law of supply and demand and performance management, just like the rest of us must do? I currently pay a little over 10,000 bucks per year for health insurance plus car insurance plus home owners insurance plus life insurance. C'mon, where does it end? I know its not likely to happen but I was just wondering what, if anything, would be some positive outcomes and what would be some of the negative outcomes? Maybe the problem is not the need for mandatory health insurance but a need to use a common sense approach to health care that excludes scum bag lawyers, greedy doctors, crooked judges and lying patients. What if a system of medical care were set up where we could pay a 'membership fee" for health care that cuts out all the middle people and all the negative aspects of care like frivolous lawsuits. Is this possible? I am just curious wat others may think of a cooperative health care system that excludes all the current negative influencers that continue to drive health care higher and higher.
