I got ticketed for hunting a baited area? :D Yes, it would but thats the chance I'm gonna take.

The warden and I met up around 4:00 and made the hike into the woods. I was pumped to catch this creep but when I arrived near the spot; I glassed and saw his stand at the bottom of the tree. Bummer! We went over and checked everything out. The warden says he will routinely check the area out. I told him I would as well and that he might be receiving a call from me in the AM.

The trespasser in question has actually already been ticketed for trespassing on this land. This is not my land by the way but the company I work for. Anyway, him and his brother broke into one of the shops and stole a bunch of stuff. They received a warning then but then trespassed again and were ticketed. Must not have sunk in the first time.

Tomorrow, I will be setup about 80 yards from his stand (now I'm short-standing him) and be watching. If I see him, the warden will be getting a call. I told the GW I knew I would techinally be hunting a baited area but I wanted to catch the guy.

What was the wardens response when you said, "I knew I would techinally be hunting a baited area?" Just curious?

Last year I had the week off during primetime rut. I got into my treestand as it got light I noticed and odd pile of something 20 yards from my stand. When I climbed down after the hunt I saw it was a pile of the commercial "buck grub" and called my GW. He looked at it and the following weekend (gun opener) just happened to walk out there and catch the guy, in my stand, with a freshly poured pile of bait. It was so sweet! He did inform me though that I couldnt hunt that stand anymore because of the bait.

He really didn't say anything. I think he knows how strongly I feel about the matter and he wants this guy too. Very understanding warden.

Well, heading out now. Wish me luck (again) on catching this prick!

Take the "bait' and throw it in a garbage bag...then there is not a baited area anymore.

Well...another failed attempt to catch him. I'm gonna try again this evening and then I have to go back to work Monday. So maybe the warden will have some luck...if he decides to go back.

Brett....I would do that but I don't want this guy to know that I'm on to him...again.

Yeah, I know what you mean. He already drives by where my truck is parked and lays on the horn. I guess trying to ruin my hunting??? I have a feeling that I'm gonna come out of the woods with all four tires slashed or a nice key scratch. I'm tossing around the idea of putting an infrared high in the tree looking down on my truck...just in case.

Good luck catching him. Such a thing that he hunts it during the week when you are working.

Just hope this guy isn't as psycho as the guy with the crossbow in the other thread.

Well...funny you should mention that. I pretty much spent this evening's hunt trying to do just that. I found a great spot where a dead pine had fallen and had it concealed well. The only problem was it was a little too far.

I'm afraid to just stick that camera anywhere b/c as soon as a flashlight hits it...you can see the led reflections.

I'm working the night shift Mon - Wed, 7P-7A. As much as I would hate to do it...I'm thinking about driving out to the property (arrive around 7:30) and see if he's in the stand. Gotta catch this guy before things start heating up.

Oh....also found a "campsite" where he and his buddies like to party near where he enters to get to his stand.
