Hello to those of you wiser and more experienced than myself. This is my first complete year running trail cams. Last year I started in late august and noticed tons of fawns right away. So far this year I have gotten 0 pictures of fawns. I run 4 cams, and have 300+ acres in southeast kansas that I hunt. There is no shortage on deer, or pictures. between the 4 cams i usually browse through 4000-5000 pics per week. I have noticed slightly more pictures of coyotes this year. Is there an explanation to my lack of fawn sightings this year? Thanks!
I usually don't pick up many fawn pictures until late august like you said. Seems like the does keep them hid back somewhere until their old enough to go out and browse around. I've seen a few does with fawns in person for the last month, but just not on camera. I live in northeast oklahoma so we're not too far off from each other so the does should be fawning out at about the same time. Btw I'm not expert at this. Just my thought on it.
I would say your yotes are having a free for all on some fawn buffet! I would try to make a point to whack as many of them as possible. Even if that means bringing hunters in and doing a weekend shoot to try and knock the pack down!
I've had tons of fawns so far. I'm not sure why you wouldn't be getting them unless they are just staying out of the camera's view. As has been mentioned, I would whack those yotes every chance I got. Blessings.........Pastorjim
War has been declared! No fawns, our cat came home tore up and I had to put it down, our dog has been missing for 8 days. Death to coyotes (insert jihad war cry)
