So all Summer I was getting pictures of daylight activity. Ive now sat 5 times for probably 12hrs in stand and haven't seen a deer, except when I was leaving there were does in a field across the street. I don't know if they know I'm there or just an unlucky start... Either way it is frustrating and all my recent trail cam pics have been 10pm-430am... I'd think with the first lows in the 30s they would be on their feet... Guess not. Anyone else having a sloowwww start to 2012?

Your over hunting your 14 acres. Stay out till nov.3 and hunt mornings. Beware off hunting Rainey days. Down drafts are likely so your smell will encompass all the 14 acres regardless of wind directions. I know cuz I hunt the same area as you.

Well I have 2 spots, 14 acre then the other is 16acre timber 2acr crp and a 30 acre field across the field another 5acre with pond so that whole area is like 45acres, across street is 80+ acre of timber/crp. I've hunted both locations and no sightings at either. I agree hopefully it will get better with November.

It will. But you cannot pressure these deer. They will go nocturnal or leave. October is normally slow picking up at the end of the month. I'm just trying to help. Also if your ok with heights go up at least 24' so you can take advantage of the morning thermals.

No no I understand your trying to help. Hell I need help this is my first season. I go about 17' high... Wrong guy to ask about heights.... Lol I hate me I always think my climber is gonna drop idk why, I'm getting used to it. The morning hunts though I know the deer hear me or see me coming in. Afternoons is a little more stealthy bc I can actually see where I'm walking and setting up my climber is hard in dark (first 2 times I used a headlamp which was a big mistake I think) anything advice helps, up I understand it's hunting, patience. I can't hunt now for 2 weeks so these deer will be on ther norm patterns I think.
