absolutely correct!!! how many rushing QB's are in Canton??? I'll take a pocket passer EVERY SINGLE TIME over the rushers.... rushing QB's can be exciting to watch, but the numbers bear it out that passing QB's are lopsidedly more successful than the rushing QB's...

The ability to run as a QB is most certainly NOT overrated in COLLEGE.

In the NFL, yes, running QBs historically do not pan out, but in COLLEGE, running QBs have been dominant.

See: Vince Young, Tommy Frazier, Tim Tebow, Pat White, Tim Couch, etc.

If your team had to play him every year, you would recognize his talent more. Trust me.

I agree, but there have also been many successful passing Quarterbacks as well,

It all depends on styles/year/conference...the list goes on,

And speaking of possibly the greatest college quarterback of all time :D

    And how is that?

Only player to ever passed for 3,000 yards and rushed for a 1,000
    His record was 30-2
    2 Rose Bowl MVP's
    National Title

    Pretty impressive resume :D

No doubt an impressive resume, but how could a player be possibly the best guy ever at his position, when he wasn't even the best player at his position in any season?

Edit: I suppose you could make the argument for this junior year in which he won the Davey O'Brien award. Still I think the best of all time is a stretch. I think top 15 is reasonable.

    um...2005?

Reggie Bush won the Heisman, VY was the best QB in the land...and beat the tandem of Heisman winners in the Rose Bowl.

I dont think its that far of a stretch for me to put a guy who is in your top 5 as my number 1 :D

You're right, it wouldn't be. Problem was I couldn't keep track of which thread I was posting on...this one or the 1985 one.:D I edited my post to read top 15...top 5 since 1985 I could live with.

VY will have recent rememberance... 50yrs from now? I think he'll be looked back at as pretty good but I don't believe he will be compared to the like of red grange or jim thorpe... was he good, no doubt, among the greatest of all time??? not so sure... YET!!! I think time will tell, right now its too early...
