I've only been hunting a few times and don't have a blind or stand. I put a trail cam out the other day and caught this guy on it. There's not a lot of trees but a ton of brush. Can I just sit myself back in the brush and have a good chance of getting a deer? They might be walking 20 feet in front of me so I planned on drenching myself in Primos Earth. If you catch a Buck on a trail cam is it likely he hangs around the area? Is this guy considered a "nice" buck? Lots of ?s but any advice would be great, I really want to get this guy. I have a crossbow. Thanks
That is a nice buck to most. There have been plenty of deer taken from the ground. Make a make shift blind behind some brush and keep the wind in your favor and movement to a minimum. As far as him showing back up there always is a chance. Never know during the rut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I hunt 95% off the ground. We just move some logs and brush and make a natural blind. I've shot a buck that has walked within 5 yards of me and had no idea I was there. Just don't move and they won't see you. I also recommend buying a leaf suit.
Awesome buck! Definitely get out to your spot and hunt from the ground. Unfortunately you're at a disadvantage on the ground, especially if you're new. Break up your outline and position yourself so that the open area or shooting lanes are upwind (wind in your face). Rattling will help right now if u have antlers. Good luck!
"Is this guy considered a "nice buck"?.......... hahaha! Who is this guy? Heck yea thats a nice buck! Others gave you good advice. Concealment and hunting favorable wind are a must. Facemask or a good facepaint job will go far. Dont move unless they are looking away or head down. Good Luck! Ground hunting is a whole new perspective. Very intense!
Yes that is a nice buck. As above hunting on the ground is a whole new world. You are face to face with them. They aren't like turkeys. They know what don't belong and what wasn't there yesterday. Pay attention to the wind and minimize movement. Good Luck!!
My crossbow arrived today and the manual says I need a 125 grain broadhead. I ordered 100 grain when I bought the bow and opened them already. Will it be fine to shoot the 100 grains? I just need to sight it in and shoot one deer this year. After the bow, broadheads and hunting license/tag, money is tight.
