Now that I will be back in PA since I graduated college dad and I went and got a lease in New Jersey zone 5. This will be our first time leasing any land and we are really looking forward to the September opener and unlimited does. The lease is only a half mile long hedgerow in between a corn field that stays up until the end of November and a large alfalfa field, we went and scouted out the area and saw plenty of sign. We put the cameras up on Sunday and will go check them in a few weeks. I'm extremely excited for this opportunity. Anyone else have any new leases this season?

Supposed to be picking up another lease here in KY in the next couple of weeks. Really don't need it but it will be a good price for the area so it's hard to not take it and give it a shot for a year to see how good it is.

More stands and cameras to put up in 90/90 heat.... Yay me. Why is it we can never get a new farm in January? There are worse problems to have though right? If it weren't for deer hunting I'd probably weigh 400 lbs. Lol.

I will be hunting on a new piece of land that I got permission to hunt on. It is made up of farming fields/wetlands with little to no trees. It was not farmed on this season, which has left weed/grass to grow over head high in many areas. Still trying to figure out how I will hunt this since there aren't any trees to hang a stand in. Any ideas?

Clear an area and brush in a ground blind would be my go to if you can't hang a stand

Here's an overview of the property, we have permission in the orange, I wish we could get on the rest of the woods but the sign was good up top, the green dots are where we placed cameras

Yea I have been thinking the same thing... what is the going rate for a 900 yd hedgerow in NJ? You have to put your stand/blind in the hedgerow but you can shoot out in the fields? How far out into the fields can you shoot? I mean presumably no one else will be sitting out in those fields hunting right? So in essence you have the fields leased too. How does this work? I am intrigued now.

    Alenhard15 - Please elaborate.

We only had to pay 500 dollars for the year. Basically this guy manages the property and has it broken into sections, this was the only section available, the other woods shown has another 2 hunters in it but they have been hunting there for awhile, and pay a lot more for their spots. And yes I can shoot into the fields the alfalfa field is part of the property and we have permission to shoot in the cornfield.

Cool. I hope y'all enjoy it.

Just found out this afternoon we are getting a new farm (240 acres). Gotta roll out in the morning and get several cameras out on it. Running behind yet again.

In NJ $500 is a steal for a place to hunt! You will easily find the deers favorite crossing spot on the hedge row and set up ambush spots. I hunt zones 7, 8 and 10. I hunt a combination of State Wildlife Management Areas, State Parks and County Parks as well as some Preservation Land. Have always had good success. Lots of deer in NJ!!!

This agricultural hunting that I see over corn and large fields like this is so fascinating to me. I hunt big timber with some food plots mixed in but its nothing like what I see here. Good luck!

Zone 5 holds a lot of deer (despite what other people say). highest harvest rate in NJ yet guys say there are no deer. $500 is cheap for NJ good luck with it! If I were you I would make mock scrapes in a line with the hedgerow. That way deer travel on string right to you stands.

Your set up looks a lot like one covered by Brad Herndon in Mapping Trophy Whitetails. Good luck...hope it works out as well for you.
