Needed a range finder, picked this one based on price and Nikon's reputation.

If you need all the bells and whistles, this may not be the one for you. But if you want clear optics, one button simple (there is a second button to change from yards to meters), then you'll love this one.

The optics are 6 power, clear and easy to see the LCD display. I have glasses and use it with no problems.
The distance is displayed in half yard increments up to 100 yards and 1 yard up to 550 yards. (Just outta my bow range. )
It's supposed to be water and fog proof. I haven't used it in those conditions yet.
It uses one CR-2 lithium battery and is included with the range finder.
The overall size is just slightly longer than Christine's Bushnell scout (range finder). Still easily fits in a pocket. It also has a nice case that has a belt loop. I'll probably keep it in my fanny pack when not in use though.

Bottom line...I'm happy with it. I'd buy another one. Nikon makes good stuff. This range finder keeps their reputation intact.

I have the same one. It was my first Nikon product. It works great. I think it could be a little bit brighter in the optics department, but still very good. Simple and idiot proof, that's how I like my gear. I now use Nikon exclusively. Binos, Rangefinder, Scope, and DSLR Camera. The price to quality ratio cant be beat with Nikon, expect for the DSLR. That thing was expensive, but so worth it.
I've used them all from the Hardwoods of PA to the open terrains of New Mexico.

I've been using this rangefinder for years now. I like it. I dont' baby mine either. Its been wet, dirty, etc,. Keep the lenses clean and you shouldn't have much to worry about. Its had the same battery in it for 4 or 5 years now.

I also have this range finder. I use it for gun hunting and bow hunting. Works great. No complaints after 3 years. Same batteries.

Have you guys had any issues with it in the cold? Mine wouldn't work for about an hour after I left it in the cab of the pickup overnight. Got down to about 5 that night

No problems with mine. I've had mine for two seasons and works like a charm.

DONT BUY THE BUSHNELL 600 SPORT.

    It's a piece of crap.

Loved my Nikon until it took it's last breath. Going to buy another one.
