Anyone filming with this dslr (as main camera, or B-roll)? In the process of getting one and wondering how you like it?

I use DSLR's, and they are great. Really good low light, better than any video camera you can get for the same price. I use all Canon, mainly because there is 3rd party firmware that allows me to turn the camera into a super machine. I love the ability to change the lens, and it means I can get a lot of great shots, shots that I wouldn't be able to get with a video camera.

That being said, you do have to invest in lenses, and I have all de-clicked aperture lenses that I run. There also isn't any sort of auto focus, but with enough practice you can get it down. I also use a follow focus, which helps me get focus fast.

Another issue is the length they can record. Mine is limited to about 30 mins.

Video cameras are by fair more easier to use.

What follow focus do you use in the field. More specifically, the treestand?

I have a cheap NEEWER follow focus that attaches to my camera, and then attaches to the camera arm. It's cheap, but it gets the job done, and I don't have to worry about losing $150 if it gets broken. It has some play, but it's not too bad.

I have the d3200 and use it for B-roll and second angles for interviews. DSLR's are tough to film with for your main camera (for me anyway) I have a problem with focusing because of shallow depth of field.

That's true, but that could be changed with a better lens. One of the big advantages that Magic Lantern on the Canon 5D gives me is that it has magic circles (a small circle that zooms in @ 10x) and edge focusing (colored lines that show what is in focus), so you can get it into focus much faster than you could with the standard firmware.
