I was just in Illinois hunting with an outfitter. Unfortunately I was unable to harvest a deer. I wounded one and was able to see him again to see that my arrow had not affected him. After receiving a free pass to harvest another buck I hit another one and was unable to find the deer. I have a love and passion for hunting whitetail and will continue to hunt. Loosing a deer is the worst feeling though, and it sticks in the back of your mind. What keeps you going to get back out there and keep hunting?
Just getting out of the house, away from work, I`m tired of being a slave to the grind. Gives me peace, and thats all I can ask for, but I also love getn that buck or doe!! Best of luck with rest of your season.
We have all been through the not finding the deer. I myself have givin up the long shots. I shot 3d this year and I can say for me it was Awsome. Great practice but the best was learning the yardage. One day in the stand the Booner will walk by slow and looking for live. When you draw breath and as Ted says the mystical flight of the arrow. Will hit its mark and you will then feel the best feeling that a Bow hunter gets. Keep at it hard time in the stand can bring some of the best memory. It the Rut.
Like others said practice, most of all just tell yourself it is just a deer, don't focus on the antlers.
