Been out for a while. It's been eventful while out. The gov't cancelled all the classes I teach for this year; quit smoking; put the place up for sale; won the county chili cookoff yesterday; and last week while turkey hunting had a kidney stone that decided it was time while I was a mile from my truck and the road. A fellow hunter/good friend ran to the road and brought my truck back to where I was and took me for medical help. Other than that, it's been really boring around here. What's new with y'all?
Thanks all, I've also been getting back into photography. Want to get as many pics as I can of this place before we move out. Not the quality of some of the other photographers on here, but I think they're respectable. http://www.flickr.com/photos/56842963@N06/
Welcome back Iowa Vet.. I remember viewing your land for sale in the classified section a while back. Thought about buying it.. then realized how much my wife would disapprove of the move.
Thanks Justin. We have so many different water fowl visit here every spring I can't remember them all. We have Greater.... and Lesser...'s, wood ducks, blue winged teals, mud hens, and several other types in the duck series. Then we have the ospreys, herons, egrets, canadian geese, pelicans, and actually had two all white (snow?) geese stop here two weeks ago. I want to get pics of all of them, but not enough patience.
Sounds like an awesome area for birds, we don't get too much this early in the spring, a few wood ducks and some ringnecks here and there.
If your wife has any outdoors in her at all, she'd love it in no time at all. My wife thought it was too dark and too quiet at first and now she hates going into the city (too much noise, too much traffic, too smelly, etc)
Welcome back, sorry to hear you are still selling your little paradise. I wish it was closer to me, I would be all over it!
I was fortunate enough to get to eat a bowl of that award winning chili this weekend. It was amazing and possibly the reason I turkey hunted in a blind by myself the next morning. ?? I have always said that if a turkey could smell you would never kill one. Thank goodness they cant smell. lol At any rate, congrats to you Mr. Iowa Veteran! And good luck with the property.
