I've been holding this video since last year. I recently found out it was shot in Late Muzzleloader Season, which explains why I never saw him again after 12/23/09. I shot this video in September of 09, right before Archery season. the 2 trail camera pictures are the only other sighting of him I had. I had dreams about this buck all off season and what I thought he'd turn into this fall. Any guesses on what he would have scored? He's a main frame 8, with 2 drops and 2 kickers off the back of his left G2. He also has a large tine coming out of the each base.
That deer is awesome, sorry you didn't get a chance at him. My guess is that he would score around 165 or so. He is a tough one.
very nice buck, I know how it feels to hunt a certain buck and never get a crack at him. We just have to move on and keep hunting hard because there will be another day when you might get a chance at another good one. good luck!
characteristics in the first pic make him look pretty young, too bad he was killed before he had a chance to put any mass on. I dont think he would gross much over 150, he is a 130"+/- mainframe 4x4 with 25 inches or so of extras. but what a cool buck! Edit: just watched the vid, he is better than a 130 mainframe, much longer g3's than i thought, he would be close to 160", short main beams, and i still think he is a young deer 3.5 at best.
Thanks guys. As a kid, I always dreamed about a drop tine buck. Just about sh*% myself the first time I saw this buck. I wanted him soooo bad last year and really thought he made it thru the season. @DriveTracks. in the video, you really get a feel for how big he is. What gets me and I don't have all the details of the hunt, but I'm pretty sure he was taken out on a drive late season. A bunch of guys pushing small woodlots to get them out. I know it's legal and all, but it's really the reason I stopped rifle hunting. Same way my Dad and all his friends hunted rifle. Just didn't seem the same too me as bowhunting and outsmarting that big buck. Again, I know there's nothing wrong with it, just not my style and probably more a sour grapes thing than anything. Congrats to the lucky hunter, who got that trophy. Either way, I'm sure he left behind some of his genes and I'm hoping in a few years, I meet up with one of his offspring.
