Went out this afternoon looking for a decent 8 I shot at and missed last Saturday, thanks to me getting excited and jerking the shot. I decided to hunt a field from the ground as I was a little late getting out and didn't feel like fooling with the climber. With about 45 mins shooting light I did a little rattling and was able to see a doe get up from the edge of the field about 175 yd away. Watched her go out into the beans a ways and disappear. About 15 minutes go by and the nice 8 I shot at last Saturday appears to my left about 60 yards. Real tall 8...sorry no pictures as I have not even placed my cameras this year. He comes out into the field about 20 yards kind of heading the direction the doe had been seen. I am sitting behind a big pine tree not moving and then he snorted and off he went back the way he came. The wind had changed on me after I had sat up and I am afraid he winded me. Any ideas what I should do? Should I leave the area alone for a few days, or go back sooner? Muzzleloading comes in tomorrow and if it would have been in tonight he would have been on the ground for sure. This is my 4th year bow hunting and have yet to get one with it and I am frustrated...granted I have been being very selective and not shooting at does with their fawns and letting small bucks go, but so far this year I missed one doe, first time shooting out of a climber and shot right over top her back, and then the 8 I missed last Saturday from the ground when I jerked the bow. I stuck an 8 2 seasons ago, but the shot was low, because I misjudged the distance. I am very accurate at shooting targets, but get too excited when I have a deer within bow range...something I got to figure out I guess.
