Yes having watch him his two years in Michigan, he just wins. I don't think he's lost a regular season game since 2019
Sure did. Then I watched him rise to the occassion and win the game as our #1 draft pick crumbled under pressure and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. JJ is a winner and comes through in clutch moments. Caleb does not.
I wouldn't judge him by his 1st 3 quarters, hell, even his first 3 games. He's coming off a season ending surgery from his rookie season, so this is his rookie season minus knowing the ins and outs of the offensive schemes and playcalls he learned while on IR. Where it matters is when the pressure is on and how you step up to the occassion. You could literally see the game slowing down for him in the 4th quarter as he let the plays happem rather than forcing something that wasn't there, aka Caleb Williams. They were polar opposites at QB this game. Caleb came out somewhat poised and in control, albeit likely due to a series of plays that were layed out before the game. Think he started out 10 for 10 with an opening drive TD. Then once the Vikings defense settled in a bit and the orchestrated play calls were over he failed to adapt to in the moment play calls and audibles. JJ on the other hand, started off with modest play calls in an attempt to get him comfortable. It took some time, vut you could see his confidence growing throughout the game. At one point he was on the sideline and you could tell he wanted the coach to call a timeout, think it was leading into halftime, he wanted the ball back before the half. He played his best ball when it mattered and it was on MNF, an away game when the Bears had their 40th anniversary of their '85 season. Let alone it was his first start/game. Once he settled down, he was locked in. It's one of the reasons I want to see Will Howard before the '26 draft and Steelers potentially waste another 1st rounder. Also another reason I hate seeing rookie QB's start week 1 regardless of how NFL ready they are, very few pan out right away. 1 year on the bench learning never hurts.
Caleb fell off when the bears used up all the scripted plays. Blocking was not that good the first half for the vikings as well. Will see how JJ develops he does have a ton of talent around him.
If I was an O lineman for the bears I would hand Caleb a bottle of nail polish remover and say get a silicone bracelet, or wear multi colored silicone rings. I don't know any man that paints his fingernails (for any cause) that I want to go into battle with on my side.
Hero ball is a great skill to have, hell Russel Wilson has made a ridiculous amount of money playing hero ball and having a elite deep ball. He also got to build his reputation of clutch with marshasn lynch and the legion of boom. He never really got the hang of running a game plan or making plays on time, and it showed ever since he hasn’t had the elite stuff around him for him to elevate in the big moments. JJ was staring down receivers and panicking when his first read wasn’t open to start that game. Now, it was his first start against his childhood team in their house it’s 100% understandable he would have some jitters and will have every chance to grow from his first start and win, but he better grow because he doesn’t have lynch or the legion of boom.
If Caleb just starts hitting his open guys the bears are gona win a lot of football games and most people won’t care about the antics, but if he keeps missing them I think people will turn on him quick. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry the bears are not winning a lot of games in 2025. Granted it was the first game of the season with little to no preseason played but Caleb is all sizzle no steak.
Don’t apologize to me I don’t want them to win I’m a packer fan lol but they had a good defense last year and they have talent on offense. Caleb holds the keys for sure. Their run game is probably gona be bad again though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If I see another game with multiple special teams penalties I am going to lose my mind. Oh and opening drive you take the points every single time.
