Everyone has the right to their opinions but when you are a NFL player you should watch what you say. Enough of them have done things to put a negative image on the players, but some of the things the players have said about the Zimmerman verdict are just plain crazy!

I ALMOST made a thread about this Tom.

It seems athletes everywhere are in outrage over the ruling.

A thug got shot...the gun owner got off. And minorities everywhere are freaking out.

Big reality check for the thugs.

Sad truth is if it was a white teenager shot by a latino male this whole thing doesn't exist...doesn't see light of day in the news...doesn't cause any fuss. Racism only exists out of belief that it does exist, sadly too many people still feel it is relevant so it stays relevant. As a nation we can choose to feed this or starve it....clearly it's being fed like a sumo wrestler at a buffet.

I never followed this story. But, from what little I know, this was never a race thing. But, the media we have today played it that way from day one. Until a few days ago, I thought he (Trayvon Martin) was 12. My wife told me that the first pictures they plastered all over the news when this first happened were of him when he was 12. Attempts to get sympathy from the public. Then I hear that the media calls Zimmerman a White-Hispanic. WTF? Man this sickens me. I am glad this crap is over!

I wish it were over, but to many people can reap benefits from keeping this alive. Racism and provoking outrage over alleged racism is a prosperous career for too many.

This is really crazy. You can turn it anyway you want and it doesn't get the same attention. I still don't understand how race is being brought up when it is an African American and a Latin American involved. If it was a white shooter and any other race they would be going crazier than they are now. Would the media, athletes, and the other race and fear mongers react the same way if Martin would have beat Zimmerman to death or if it was an African American shooting a Latin American in self defense?

I look forward to the day when a crime happens we do not have to hear the color of anyone's skin. The only thing that should matter are the facts of the crime and that justice is served!

Best worst thing to happen to this country the internet...

Everyone now has an opinion or the ability to express an opinion even if it's not one that they created on their own.

Love to read Twitter - stopped posting on Twitter over a year ago at 5,000 tweets as I realized my tweets and opinions were probably not quite as important as I thought they were.

That said, NFL players or any athletes for that matter don't need a Twitter or social media to market themselves if they take care of business.

See Dale Jr. And Reggie Wayne - no Twitted. Both amazingly popular and both pretty good. Neither the best at what they do but success isn't measured by championships by anyone other than the media.

I should add other than a fundamental understanding of what this case was about I didn't follow the Zimmerman trial as I refuse to believe that it had any impact on my life. 15 years ago I have the feeling this would have been just another crime in this country.

Reggie White probably would have had a twitter, and Dale Jr. is only piggybacking off his dads fame. He's not a good racecar driver, unless hes on a restrictor plate track and thats also where the Micheal Waltrips (who also sucks) of the world win races < I dont even know why that matters, but it felt good to say. Anyways, athletes almost HAVE to have a twitter now. Their agents want them famous....twitter helps.

But the fact remains that his name is Reggie Wanyne and not Reggie White and Reggie Wayne does not and he is famous and he is succesful - you can't even argue against it and say what you want about Dale Jr and how it got to where he is - he is a second example of a professional athlete that does not need social media and does not need to have an opinion on social or political issues.

Tom looks forward to the day when race doesn't matter - I look forward to that day also, but after that I look forward to the day when athletes opinions are not held in such high standing in this world. That will never happen - but it is the way I feel.

But Reggie White might have a Twitter, either that or after your post Reggie Wayne needs one. Lol

I miss-read. Thought it was kinda funny how you said a dead person who died before twitter didnt have a twitter.

Athletes are held in such high regard because they are important to SOOOO many people. Not only are they role models for young children, but they keep a high number of Americans entertained everyday.

Not to mention the fact that they create jobs for MILLIONS. Anybody who works at a stadium, or is in sports media, or works for companies that cater events (Pepsi, Sugardale, ect). Sports keep our economy going strong in times of recession. This is not possible without athletes. So yea, they are kind of important.

Its not even close to over.

Zimmerman filed a lawsuit against NBC for their blatant lies and cutting of 911 call.

Obama is talking of investigations by the feds for civil rights violations.

    Pure idiocy.

They all act like martin did nothing wrong while zimmerman just murdered him in cold blood.

Fact is, 2 people know what went down that night. 1 is dead and no way to prove that zimmerman instigated an attack to provoke martin but that will not stop the lynch mob.

Its always been my belief that those who cry racism the loudest / play the race card are the most racist
