The league knows Chip wants Mariotta. If they are able to swap picks with the Browns they will still have to move up to at least 6th overall. That's going to require a lot of picks. Is there any Eagles fans on this forum? I'm curious to see how those people feel about this.
Think about how much the NFL has made during the time period Revis has played. I do not hold anything against the players for getting paid what they do, the owners and the league make a fortune. Fans do not pay to watch owners, refs or the commissioner play.
The Saints have pretty much pissed me off. Graham to Seattle? Guess that's what happens when you have a $100,000,000 quarterback.
Pretty much explains my thought process this entire time. The fact that he traveled to NYC to meet with the Wilfs makes me wonder...
I would think they would have a few compensatory picks after losing Maclin and McCoy to use for moving up in the draft. I wouldn't expect the Browns to require very much more than just Sam Bradford since they need a QB so bad so the first move wouldn't be expensive. Then they can use their compensatory picks and first round next year to move up from 12 to 6. I'm not saying it's what I would do, but I think that's what Kelly is trying to do. Kelly is one of those guys who has a system, the players don't matter as much - except the QB. He wants HIS QB. It's clear that if you aren't 100% on board with his system, he will let you go and find someone else to do the job, but when it comes to QB, he needs someone who can run it fast and effectively. Mariota is a player who may actually work in the NFL at his size and speed, unlike Manziel, but he has to be in the right system. Chip Kelly's system.
I don't think sucks is the right term, toolbag is probably better. To say a TE who gets you nearly 1,000 yards and 10-15 TD a year hardly screams that they suck.
Fine. He was vastly overpaid. He was incredibly soft and would completely disappear in games. The value wasn't there. They can get 80% of his production while paying some 25% of his perceived value.
You are out of your mind. Here is what Graham averaged over the past four seasons: 89 rec 1100 yards 12 tds The typical TE does not even come close to approaching 80% of those numbers and only the most elite receivers would match them. I would take Gronk over Graham but there is a large gap between those two and the rest of the league at that position.
But he also doesn't block and there was too much tension with the Saints. I don't think Brees is happy, but at the same time they have started to regress and need money to rebuild.
I'm not questioning their decision to trade him. I'm just saying he clearly is a unique talent and losing him will impact their passing game in a big way espcially in the red zone. He is as much a WR as a TE. He provides a lot more value to the offense running patterns than blocking at the line of scrimmage.
As a Patriots fan I am a little perplexed at there lack of activity, while teams around them are loading up. The colts offense is going to be tough to get around in the AFC. We will see what the hoody has up his sleeve.
I agree about Jimmy Graham being soft... how is he going to fair in Seattle where they use their tight ends as blockers more often than not? How's that going to work?
