Every team signs free agents I guess you don't remember former Packers like Reggie White, Charles Woodson, Desmond Howard and many others helping them win Super bowls?
Thompson has signed maybe 6-7 guys in his 9 years who weren't drafted by us. He relies HEAVILY on the draft. But your right, the right free agent CAN make the difference.....for example, the players you have listed combined for 3 Super Bowls, 3 DPOYS, 2 Heisman trophies, and a Super Bowl MVP.
Yep building primarily through the draft is a recipe for long term success...has worked well for the Steelers too
Free agents do make a difference... You can't argue that they don't. Especially if your team is in it to win now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If the Packers stay HEALTHY this year we will be contenders. We still need a center and a safety to complete our roster though. And if Eric Ebron is available at 21 we better pick him. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
I must admit u as very surprised to see the pack picked up Peppers. But it was a low risk pick up. Should work out. And yes I think they will be a contender if they stay healthy. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Dont know the terms, but can guess it was a fraction of what Chi was going to owe him. They can always cut him.
James Jones to Oakland Brandon Wheedon to Dallas. Rodgers-Cromartie to New York. Personally, i think Jones is going to fail in Oakland just like every other ex-Packers receiver has. Love the guy though. And DRQ is stupid for not signing in Denver.
I never though Jones was that great a receiver to begin with. Not having Rodgers throwing to him is going to kill that guy's production. As for the Peppers signing it hurts to see a former player go do a division rival but that's life. I think we'll get more production out of Houston than we were going to get from Peppers for a lot less money. Smart business move, but you'd hate to see Peppers be the one to put Cutler on the bench. What was the deal he signed in Green Bay? 3 years, 30 mil with 7.5 guaranteed? Pretty sure the Bears owned him like 14 or 18 million this coming season.
Yeah the good thing is we (Packers) don't need Peppers to light it up, just be consistent and provide a offside rush so Clay can unleash a bit more. I have a feeling we will be doing some hybrid 3-4/4-3 things now with Peppers and the new signing of the DT from Minnesota...besides Raji (who is even quick for his size) we have some versatile athletic guys and plenty of LBs to go in and out of formations....Capers could regain his footing he was had as an elite DC.
Yup...If we only keep him for 1 year it's 7.5 million total with only a 3.5 million cap hit this year. You guys will be paying him more then we are this year. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
We are definitely in better shape up front defensively going into 2014. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
