he had an easy 5-10 yrds, and he was getting hit all game...he should have took another for the team, and picked up the yards Instead of throwing across his body, running to the right, to the middle of the field.

So he's not a "long range guy" (which is debatable btw), there is no reason not to try.

    [i still love favre]

I hear you. He made 1 terrible play all year, it just happened to happen in the final moments of the NFC championship game. It should never have come down to that though, which is a SHAME. This was there year.

Trent Dilfer described Favre perfectly this afternoon on NFL live. In three words he said Favre was:

    1) Courageous
    2) Brilliant
    3) Catastrophic

    Solid.

Favre didn't lose that game soley. If they all didn't make them mistakes it would have not came down to that play. Win as a team lose as a team. I am satisfied to a point where I know we were better than the Saints yesterday. They won off our errors. Did we lose? Yes but even with all those mistakes we still were in the game. Talent wise Vikings are better than the Saints. Darren Sharper is a punk, and I still hope Favre returns after he collects himself at home in Mississippi. Are you kidding me about Longwell he has been rock solid and I believe he was second highest scorer in the NFL. He is good up to 50 yards for sure. And as for our year it was our year in 98 also. It's the Vikings, complete underacheivers. I still am excited for next year and it was fun watching them this year. It is after al just entertainment. SKOL VIKINGS!

Ah he made a piss poor decision that cost them the game/season. I am not going to crucify him for it hell AP did the same. Among others all year. It sucks. I hope he comes back next year. It sure was alot of fun watching him beat the packers not once but twice! That was worth it right there. Go Vikes! I need no stinking Super Bowl.

If that was Romo that made that play? The entire world would crucify him. I think the media and fans are going easy on saint Favre. What a bonehead play at the biggest moment in the Vikings franchise history. Way to go gimpy. He had to run 5 yards for a legit field goal attempt. Probably could have got closer to 10. Oh well... let the retirement drama begin. The stage is yours Brettypoo.

considering this is a franchise that has blown 4 super bowl appearances I'd say this is a bit of an overstatement... imho, AP, berrian, and harvin's fumbles have WAY more to do with the loss than ANYTHING favre did... if no-one else had give up the ball he would never have tried to make that throw to begin with...

The problem with the outcome of a game coming down to one play, any mistake any player made prior to that can be interpreted as the reason they lost. So the answer is it was all their faults, and also none of their faults. Clear as mud right?

I agree to an extent. You can pick 100 things during the course of a game that alters it one way or another. The fact still remains that after ALL that happened to the Vikes at that particular moment the game winning drive/field goal was STILL looking him dead in the eye. Aside from all the turnovers and stupid penalties that happened to that point, it was still right there to be had and he blew it! If this if that blah blah blah. Favre had the game at his fingertips at that moment and made the biggest mistake of the day... period!

Bear Bryant used to say there are usually about 5 plays in each game that will determine the eventual outcome and you need to win them, the problem is you don't which plays those are until the game is over. In this area is where the vikes failed... it wasn't favre, it wasn't AP, it was the entire team... favre's last play INT was just the easiest for everyone to point to...

    NYB nailed it....

If Favre wouldn't of thrown the interception(insert chuckle here) what would of the Vikings done, punted on 4th down??? No, they would of tried a field goal and most likely won the game, but as we all know that didn't happen....(insert another chuckle here)...... :D
