I figured I'd ask others that may have had the same situation before and can share some insight on it. Anyone can chirp in and give me their .02 as well.

I just recently, and I mean yesterday, aquired 40 acres of woods to hunt. Will go out Saturday to get permission slips signed. My question to you is...

Do I hold off on actually hunting this property until next year or late season?

I'm torn between getting in there this year and seeing how good it will be, but I don't want to mess it up and change any behavioral patterns the deer may have. Yes, I know the rut is coming upon us and behavior blows like the wind so that is why I'm thinking I should do a quick 1/2 day scout for good area and then set up. You never know....

Get a taste of the property this year and do the heavy scouting and set up come next season. I have other property I hunt as of right now so it's not that I need to hunt it, but the other property is hunted heavily by others, resulting in minimal deer sigtings as of recently.

Any others had similar happenings around this time of the year? If it was the beginning of the season or later in the season, wouldn't think I'd be asking this question, but seeing how we are so close, makes me second guess.

    Thanks all

Put a stand on your back, find some fresh sign, and hunt it right then.

    Good luck.

I hunt new spots all the time. With Flashearth you can see the lay of any land and damn near pick your tree. Hunt!
