Headed home after spending a couple days hunting with Mike and Shawn over in HB territory... first off, if you haven't met these guys personally or caught their t.v. show, you owe it to yourself to at least watch a few episodes... without a doubt they're setting a new standard in the industry.

But way above and beyond that, they're just simply awesome guys.

I know some of you have played around with videoing your own hunts in recent years, and I'm sure as my boys get old enough to start going with me I'll join in on the fun. Until then, this was my first experience at real t.v.-production quality hunting and all the extra measures that are needed to lay down quality video for a finished product; needless to say, my hats are off to people who can do this on a professional level!

For those wondering, we never saw a shooter buck, but keep in mind what these guys deem shooters... ;) They're doing a phenomenal job of managing their properties and refuse to shoot anything under a mature 4 1/2year-old. On our first evening hunt, we had a solid 130-class 3 1/2 year-old with a perfect 10-point frame the guys had named "Clean 10" step out. Thirty minutes later, a simply incredible 2 1/2 year-old with lots of trash on him that would easily go in the high 130s moseyed on out of the cover. Possessing unbelievable genetices, this guy could very well hit the 150s as a 3 1/2 year-old and will most definitely be a Booner by the age of 4 1/2.

I ended up taking a big, fat mature doe that same night to help them with their management strategy; it was doe number 11 in a two-week period. The next night their friend John from their college days took number 12; what's more, it was his first whitetail taken with a bow and Shawn captured it all on film. It was awesome to see how pumped John was, and I know he appreciated the hospitality and generosity from Mike and Shawn like I did more than words can say.

Thanks again to Mike and Shawn, Skyler, Rex, Bridget and a special thanks for all the licks, cuddles and tug-of-wars to Benji. :)
