My name is Paul and I live in Northwest Indiana. I am extremely new to all of this and look to get out next year for the first time with my youngest son. Losing my grandfather this year who was a big hunter (rifles), has rekindled an interest in hunting, and I have decided to learn to bow hunt. I have been reading the site for a couple of weeks already and I think that I have more questions now than when I started to gather information. I look forward to learning more and reading as much as I can.

1 question I will start with concerns dominant eye and shooting hand. I know that I am left eye dominant and I shoot guns left handed because of that and watching my grandfather (a lefty shooter). I think I read somewhere on here that there are people shooting righty even with left eye dominance, does this cause any problems or issue? I have not bought a bow yet was planning on it in the next week or so, but since I thought I was supposed to shoot left handed the selection is limited.

Welcome to the site. I am one of those that is left eye dominant but shoot right handed. It isnt a problem for me but it is how I learned to shoot. I suggest you try both right and lefty bows and see what feels most natural to you. Good luck.

    Welcome fellow hoosier!
This is a great site with good people. Occasionally you have to cut through some bull but those people don't typically last very long.

Thanks, I guess I will head back to the store and tryout a right hander. I let a couple of arrows fly from 2 different lefty setups and it was an odd feeling but I chalked it up to having never done it before.
