Newbie question

Hey everyone. Im new to archery and i have a question.
sometimes, on the bowstring, i see a loop of thread in which the arrow gets nocked between. i wanted to know what this is called.

It's called a d loop

 

^^ you can install one yourself but for your first time I would go to your local pro shop and they should get you fixed up
