Hello, I am a first time bow buyer, looking to get into bow hunting and am a little confused as to whether I am spending too much.

At my local shop, I currently am being offered a PSE Evolve 31 #65 with a fuse 3 pin sight, true-ball stinger xt release, victory archers edge arrows and a basic stabilizer and whisker-bisket for $750.

I was looking to spend a little less but for $550, I am getting the same setup but with a Diamond Infinite Edge Pro.

I assume this is a deal I would be stupid not to take? For reference, if I purchased a powermax or drive, they both would end up being more expensive than the current deal I am being offered.

    Thanks,
    -lost new guy

Id say that is a good deal. Im sure what the msrp is for just the bow. However, sounds like its a deal where you can buy it, tune it and shoot and go hunt

Search YouTube for "The Hunting Public" and look for the episode where they shop for a bow set-up for under $500. It was posted only a few days ago. I know there is another episode that was posted a couple years back where they buy a bow package at Walmart and hunt with it. There are inexpensive options.

There is no wrong answer. Get what you can afford and shoot it like crazy.

Shoot them all first, then pick the one that fits you and is the best shooter.

even the low end bows of today are worlds apart from the high end bows from 10-15 years ago

Buy what you like and can afford to lose IF you don't like it. (which I doubt
Never expect to get what you paid back IF you sell it.
Shoot a bunch at the bow shop, and get what fits YOU.

I have worked in Pro-shops and shot in competition Archery on/off since the 70's. Cost of the bow, will not make you a better shot. Buy the best you can afford that fits you. Get bow setup for you by a pro-shop. Where the monies do make a difference is the accessories. Buy good quality cut to your needs arrows, to me this is the most important of all the accessories. Buy what you can afford for sights and rests. You can always upgrade later. I'm personally a big fan of the whisker biscuit rest for new archers. One thing many newbs overlook is the importance of a quality large as you can afford target. Having your arrows pass thru a cheap target and get lost or damaged gets expensive fast. Lastly, Practice practice practice. Good luck this Season !
