I just bought a new Z7 bow, I have shot it probably forty or fifity times. I was shooting with some friends this weekend when I pulled it 3/4of the way back and the string ca e flying of the cam. The upper cam is extremely loose and wobbles left and right like there is no bearings or bushings in it. I did notice that the cam was leaning to the right when I thought it should have been straight on. Brought it to the dealer today. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
I've been on this site for just over a year (i think) and this is the first time I have heard of this happening. Please though let us know how it goes.
Will do, The Dealer looked at and said the bearings were definetly not right, he will call Mathews tomorrow. Ill keep ya posted.
I've had guys bring there bows to me in boxes many of times due to the cams leaning and or torquing the bow while drawing and rolling the shooting string off the cam , or letting the bow down with excessive cam lean .
Im sure you have but I had just started to draw back when it let loose, Im pretty sure My draw was correct and I never let off. Also if you rolled it of the front cam wouLd not be flopping around like the bearings were shot
I need to see pics to believe it ... no offense, but you have 4 posts, 3 of which are on this subject and it seems these threads come out whenever a kcik butt bow comes out ...I am not saying I don't believe you ... but I am not saying I do either .. so let's see some pics ..
Not if the cams were leaning , The bearing probally wasnt tore up till the bow exploded , like i said i've seen it many times over , infact i had just put a brand new PSE Stinger back together for a guy two weeks ago that derailed his shooting string from torqueing his bow while drawing , it didnt damage the limbs but it did take out the top right side bearing , i just went ahead and replaced them all , and the strings .
I'm not bashing the bow. I like the bow alot. Just sharing with you what happen and I really dont care if you believe me or not!
OOPS!!!! Forgot the winky!!! I was just kidding!!! That is the response that is normally given on other sites ... tongue in cheek, my man ... tongue in cheek! :D
Okay got my bow back today, the right bushing was all cracked that was why the cam was leaning when I bought it and was the reason the string came of. Replaced the bushing, string and cam. Will shoot it tonight and see how it goes.
I remember when I first bought my bow(pse)A few yrs in I was giving the bow a ''once''over before practicing .I noticed the little ''C''clip that holds the bearing and such in was gone!Doged a bullet there! They are hi tec machines,Murphy's Law and all....I know all about Mr Murphy,I married his Grand Daughter!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS ALL MY COHARTS OF THE WOODLINE!GOD BLESS AMERICA!Be safe and have a blast out there, this and every year!
Things like that happen from time to time with any bow manufacturer. Companies get some of their small parts from different suppliers and sooner or later, a dud gets through and placed on a bow. My only question to you is if you knew the cam was leaning badly to begin with.. why didn't you have it looked at sooner? I'm glad nothing worse happened and you didn't get hurt. This is why I have always thoroughly inspected a bow I'm buying before I leave the shop. If it doesn't look right, I either give it to the shop guys to go over or grab another one.
Glad to see they took care of you! And yes, things do happen. I've worked in the warranty business most all of my professional life. The most important thing is that the customer gets what they deserve (in a positive way). As a customer, as long are you're upfront, honest, and not rude, typically it'll be taken care of. I've replaced some very expensive parts just because the customer was willing to work with us, was understanding about it, and was just a nice person, and this was well outside of warranty. One of the biggest reasons I went with Mathews is because their customer service. I talked to every major brand and they replied the quickest, most thorough, and whether they did or not, they made it sound to me like they cared. With few exceptions, I've found that to be the case in this industry.
Glad it worked out! Just something that happens from time to time. I have had 10 Bowtech and Diamond by Bowtech bows in the past 6 years. Three were Tributes. One of them was cracked very near the cam, and did not notice it until I got it home that day (it was the demo, and got it for $500 with warranty). Bowtech had new limbs on it by that Friday, and killed a buck saturday. All the bows manufactured today are good bows, but faults will happen to all brands. The more bows you own, the more weird things you will see. Good luck to you. As much as I love Bowtech, I sure think my next move is the Z7. Love the looks and size. Will have to shoot it again to make sure.
To be honest with you, I should have brought it back but being inexperienced with the bow I really was unsure if it was correct or not. I really am not blaming anyone when I questioned it I should have brought it back. I really love the bow Im sure this can happen with any make. And by no means am I an expert on bows.
