Whats up New Yorkers just wanted to see how many people on this site are from New York and i want to know do you think New York State should change the regulations on killing bucks so in the future there will be a smaller buck to doe ratio and will have bigger bucks

I'm from NY. What part of the state are you from? I'm in the capital district.

I'd love to see a one buck rule in place for NY. I wouldn't mind seeing an antler restriction as well, but don't feel it's as needed as it was in PA, the NY orange army (at least in the places I hunt) isn't as bad as what I've experienced in PA. I'm seeing mature bucks on a somewhat consistent basis now in NY, so I'm not so sure it's really needed here.

I am near the vermont boarder near bennington i have seen sum mature bucks but i see way too many mature does and 1.5 year old bucks. I would pass on these bucks but for one the chances of seeing another buck are slim and if you let the spike horn or four point go 10 min later you hear a gun shot from the direction of where that buck was heading so if you pass on that buck you lose.

I live just sound of Vestal in PA here, but would like to start hunting NY also. Would also like to buy some land there. Seeing some tighter restrictions on the bucks there would make the deal for me. Atleast make it so its just one buck a year, but angler regulations would be great too forsure!

There are 3 zone around where I hunt by the Delaware Gap (basically 3 corners of PA, NY and NJ) where a buck cannot be taken without having atleast 3 point on one side. 3H, 3J, 3K I believe

What going on, I'm also from long island I'd love to see antler restrictions all around. Here in Suffolk for every doe head you bring the dec you get another either sex tag so you could potentially kill 6 bucks...

When i hunted LI i was told the same thing but if you use all the doe tags you have i would think you could only kill 3 bucks with a bow and 1 with a gun in jan or feb. The only thing i could thing of is the second doe drawing in November.

exactly I was putting the second drawing into the equation, and the gun tag is good for a bow killed buck in NY as well thats how i got to 6. Where did you hunt in suffolk?

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I hunted in Rocky Point which wasn't too bad but i don't have a big desire to go there again but i might go back in a year or two. I would like to find some private land to hunt on. Where do you hunt.

I'm in Northern NY in the Watertown area...moved up here 4 years ago from Albany and have fallen in love with the hunting up here..i know if there was an antler restriction we'd have some great bucks up here with all the farms...also i think if they gave out another doe permit individuals would be less likely to take any buck with a hint of horns/antlers

Just South of Albany...The DEC just expanded the their AR to include several more WMU, including two of the 3 I hunt in. I am very excited to see some results a couple years down the road. The Next thing that needs to happen is a short gun season and one buck total limit for the year.
