I killed my first New Years Eve deer this evening around 4:00PM. I love hunting late season in the snow!
It sure was Ben! At 3:00PM I passed on a just legal 6pt, and around 4:00PM a group of 8 deer came out of the thicket into the woods. There were 7 doe and a spike buck. What I thought was a nice doe, which really was a young buck with dropped antlers, came quartering passed at 22yrds and I got a nice heart shot. Watched it drop after a 49yrd dash. Conditions were what I would call almost perfect today. Snow, very little breeze, cloudy, and not too cold.
Not really, I was hunting about 150yrds from them. One of them got hit again the day after I took the first pics!
