This was caught by a friend of my dad in a hole we have fished many times. Dad said it was caught using a 12 inch shiner. Sorry about the picture quality... story below. http://www.greenwichtime.com/sports...es-at-nearly-70-lbs-4354882.php#photo-4332764
What a cow! I'm guessing that's a hybrid? Salt water stripper season should be heating up in the next few weeks. Looking forward to it.
That is a pig.... Our season starts soon....hopefully we get a couple days where the water is right and I can break out the fly rod.
Not a hybrid; its a landlocked Salty. The hybrid WR is in the 25 lb range. We catch lots of hybrids but I have never caught one over about about 8-9 pounds. The largest Salty I have caught is maybe 16-18 pound range.
I was so about to call BS since the pic looks like he's effortlessly holding it. Then I looked closer and saw the scale rope. I don't even know what to say about that fish. HOLY CRAP comes to mind though.
And its not even the largest striper... it's the largest "landlocked" striper. Dumb name for something that lives in water. There are some really big ones in the Warrior River and nearby Smith Lake.
