Watch some fishing shows to get an idea of what works.

Yep, sure will. I also noticed that most of the footage was just bad. Next time we go out we will mount the go pro to the boat so you can actually see what is even going on. And as soon as we have got a fish on we will put the go pro on a stick and try to record the fish underwater.

I would skip the first minute or so of the head jerking back and forth to you and your fishing buddy casting. Focus on the spot you are casting or the spot he's casting, not both. You can always edit that later to make it more simultaneous.

As far as adding the footage of the underwater go pro, do the fish a favor and already have the camera ready to go on the mount and get the last few seconds of it underwater. Don't unscrew it from the boat, stick it on the pole all while the fish is waiting with a hook in its mouth. The pros can do it because they have multiple cameras and multiple cameramen. If that's your only camera you have, choose one angle or the other and edit it to be one long clip for the final product.

Wear a life jacket and don't stand up in that little skiff.

Not sure if it was my not so expensive computer speakers, but the bass distortion made me stop watching the video altogether. I too edit videos and I always check for loudness. Even after turning my speakers down I could still hear the distortion.

I use Sony Vegas for my editing and it has an equalizer that shows volume strength. I usually tone it down so where its max strength just gets into the yellow.

    Good Luck

Yep Jpeeples, the audio was bad, I really dont know why though since I checked everything before I uploaded it.
Looks like I will need to work on the audio and better footage. Thanks for the feedback guys!

Haha, the water was only about waste deep, it might be a skiff but I'm pretty sure a 14 year old cant afford a $5000 dollar boat, we also used that small boat since the lake was about the size of a football field.

I agree with what you said about turning my head and looking away from rod. Actually I always do that even when I am fishing without the gopro on. I just look around until a bite, it also helps me set the hook faster. The main reason we had bad footage is because we actually went out to have a good day of fishing and I just put my gopro on my head and hoped i would get a few small and cool clips. We will be heading back to that lake this sunday and mainly focus on getting great footage so we can make a better video. Thanks for the feedback
