Rushed to be first with the concept...will be passed by those that refine it soon. Great concept, terrible execution from all I read.
Just to be clear, I was not endorsing this particular cam but rather the concept. But as with everything new, refinements have to be made and the bugs worked out. I usually have a rule about buying the first addition of anything electronic......don't! I still think it's an interesting idea and one that I'm sure can be improved upon. Blessings.........Pastorjim
Exactly. Any of you waterfowl hunt? There are so many decoys in particular that are sent to the store shelves before they are where they should be. One year and they'll be what they should have started as. Right way to do it? Probably not but give it time and bugs will work themselves out. I think it's a pretty cool concept.
Every year they just throw a new batch out there without ever fixing what was wrong with the last batch. C battery cams have always been a joke
Neat idea. Does this moultrie have a plot watcher setting? You could gather a lot more valuable info that way.
I have several Moultrie cameras in use right now, any issues i have had, (1 - was resolved quickly. they sent me a brand new camera) there c-cell IR 5.0 from 2010 takes more pictures on a set of family dollar c batteries than any other camera I own. Have had nothing but good luck with them. This concept however made me go, whoa, gonna let that one be out for a few years before i jump on it!
I would like to see a super wide angle lens instead of all those moving parts. I believe the concept is flawed and their attempt at it is even worse. Even two or three different lenses pointed at different angles would be more effective.
I read that they do work and are great cameras and function well, but the problem is battery life. For every 1 picture a regular camera would take, this one takes 3. So the batteries last about 1/3 as long. Maybe with an external battery or a solar panel
Actually, it lasts only 1/5 as long as regular cameras, because P150 employs a big motor that sucks a lot of power (so that the camera has to shut down the camera much earlier, to avoid malfunction return).
I think that the technology is a good idea but with more moving parts you have more problems. I want a camera to last and not spend more time getting fixed. And Moultrie is all about quantity not quality.
I would wonder how that motor and its lubrication work in cold weather. I would wonder if it is a cheap servo that makes noise and will burn out. What about vibration when I throw it in the trunk of the car, on the ATV, etc. Rushed to market usually means untested in many conditions.
