I have having been in the trail camera game as long as most here but i have used a few different brands and been at least happy with all of them, but some more than others. Bushnell- Got one of the Trophy Cams this past year. It takes very good, clear 8.0 MP pics day and night and seems to trigger rather well when anything passes by. Easy to set up and been very dependable thus far. Battery life seems to be very good. No complaints... It was a $220ish camera, but i got it on sale for $150. Covert- Got one of the 2012 MP6 just a few months ago. IT TAKES A TON OF PICTURES compared to anything i have used. It seems to have the best trigger of the cameras i have used. The pictures are clear. The battery life seems to be very good. Again no complaints, and got it on sale for $97 to my door. Moultrie- I think its a D55 or something along those lines. Ive had it for a few years, it take pretty decent pictures but not nearly as good the previous two cameras. It doesnt have the trigger speed of the other cameras but it has been a good camera and gets a decent amount of pictures to know whats its the area and what passes by. It is an older camera and uses C batteries. The battery life has been great for me. I only had the camera out a little last year, and its been out since after hunting season this year on the same batteries, it was still at 75% when i checked them last weekend. Think i paid right at $100 3 or 4 years ago. Leupold- Not sure of the model... It was my buddies and he wasnt using it so i borrowed it for a while. It took pretty good quailty pictures and seemed to have a decent trigger on it, but it is very expensive. IT WAS A PAIN TO SET UP. By far the most difficult camera ive used. Maybe i just didnt use it enough to learn it well but it was a pain. Overall, my favorite two cameras have been the Bushnell and Covert. I have very limited experience compared to the majority here. If i had to pick one camera as a favorite it would be very difficult. They both have great pictures, great battery life. The covert takes may more pictures it seems but the bushnell does seem to have a better flash for night time pictures by a decent margin. Then you go to prices, covert line gives you a lot for your money.
All IR cams will have some blur to night time pics if the animal is moving. The way to avoid that is to use video. I have three Bushnell Low Glow/Blackflash and run all of them in video 100%. The Bushnell 476 and Covert Black 60 are great cams. For a red blob IR I'd go with a Covert Red 40.
If you want a Long Range camera, then only two brands to go: Bolyguard or Scoutguard. When it comes to picture quality comparisonz with other cameras, it's like an F cup compared to an A cup in size contest.
In my opinion, covert cams off the best price to performance ratio and their customer service is top notch, I am not saying their aren't other good cams out there, I own a reconyx also but you can't beat the total package from covert. Scoot
Oh, the $99 SG370-4M is C Cup, and $129 SG560-8M is D cup. If you have a natural F Cup, it‘s so easy to make it C/D Cup。 But for those with A Cup, they only thing they can do is to fake it out.
Over the years I had various JUNK. I THOUGHT if I bought cheap cams, I could put more out in more places. However, every cheap cam I bought ate batteries, usually 6v lantern or C batts like they were going out of style. I have a 2012, low-end Wildlife Innovations cam that hasn't enough power left for the flash after less than two weeks! Those cheap cams became VERY expensive to operate. I am changing that now. I have a Bushnell cam. Picture quality is OK (look at my posts). The light/ contrast/ color isn't very pretty like the Coverts is, but it is better than many I have seen. But every test I saw said they have the longest battery life. That's my highest priority. It also has one of the fastest triggers. They have video w/ audio, but I haven't tried it yet. I got mine cheap as a mismark (Walmart had them online for $149, was quickly put back to $179 after my order although they did honor mine). In that regard, the Covert may be a better buy. My 2 cents.
The above diagram tells you that when an A cup camera is compared to a C/D camera, trigger speed is not even relevant! A C/D cup camera finishes picture taking even before an A Cup wakes up (detects the motion)!
