Seems like a sound rule, cause they definitely DO NOT mix. I for one have no faith in individuals capability of acting responsibly, or ability to make sound decisions.

Good question BC. In VA you cannot carry concealed in a restaurant that serves alcohol, but you can open carry.

I wouldn't consider most country music to be country music anymore. It's pop music with pick up trucks and boots.

I'm betting its due to the bar as well but could be wrong.

As for the comments above saying they would rather no one carry because a select few don't know how to use their weapon. Move to Chicago or Washington DC... we don't need those thoughts spreading elsewhere.

Just bought my first pistol yesterday. Walther p22. Also learned that unloaded open carry is illegal now. What!? I cannot even open carry a gun with no bullets in it. I'm not worried about Toby Kieth or his restaurant telling me I can't have guns. I'm worried that big brother won't let me have guns. Last summer the mountains an hour and a half behind my town were closed to target shooting because of fire risks. Anyone who honestly thinks it will re-open is a fool. This is California coming soon to a town near you!

I expect the same rights as every other person on this planet deserves. California is just the tip of the ice burg that the entire country is heading towards. You get that right?

California has long since been messed up as far as gun rights are concerned. I seriously doubt those extents will reach us up here for a long, long time.

fixed it for you. California laws being spread onto the entire country has about as likely of a chance as another civil war over state's successions.

Not exactly. In 2010 Virginia passed a law allowing concealed carry in a bar or establishment that serves alcohol provided the person carrying does NOT consume alcohol.

EDIT: Found the specific bill: 2010 Virginia Senate Bill 334, 2010 Virginia House Bill 505. It was passed and signed by the governor and took effect in July of 2010.

You are absolutely correct. In fact I knew that law, yet I was "corrected" at work the other day by several people, claiming you cannot concealed carry in a restaurant that serves alcoholic beverages. I argued but then after awhile and not researching thought I was wrong. You are correct.

Now you have something to talk about at work tomorrow  . I think a lot of states in our region of the country passed similar legislation around the same time.

Handgunlaw.us is a good site to have bookmarked on you computer, especially if you do any state to state travel.

Believe it or not California is not alone in the war on guns. Check out some New York and Illinois laws. I read a story where a guy was legally traveling through Illinois with a rifle, gun was separate from ammo and the whole nine yards. He got pulled over and searcher for whatever reason and the dude went to prison for a while! Even in TX. Have you guys seen the story where the guy was walking around with his AR, legally maybe not intelligently, and the cops forcibly took it away from him. Honestly it is only a matter of time, especially if people keep voting in the same caliber of people. Hats off to Colorado for voting out the people that did not share their states values.

Honestly I don't see the big deal. Rather than try to decipher ever case idividually, (this person can carry ciase they aren't drinking, but this guy can't cause he took a sip of his wife's drink) it was much easier for them to say no guns. Period. With a high profile bar like that which will attract obnoxious rednecks that are going to get trashed & act stupid, they are just trying to avoid lawsuits down the road.

Hey, I for one respect a businesses authority to act as they choose. I have always championed that type of stuff.
