I've always bowhunted deer, but really want to start turkey hunting. I have NO turkey hunting gear besides a nice blind and of course my bow. What else do I need? I know i need some calls, can you tell me the exact call you use or a link to it? That will be much easier for me since i don't know much. Also whats your decoy setup? how many you have? Anything else i need or tips for Turkey hunting will be helpful too. Thanks so much!

You can pick up some tips from watching the Bowhunt or Die episodes from the last couple of Springs. Good luck!

Im pretty new to the turkey hunting world also.In the last 3 years Ive learned scouting is very helpful.I go out a few weeks before season and watch where the turkeys go and what time.I then find a spot to set up my blind around there. If I use decoys I use 2 hens and a Primos Killer B decoy.I dont call much but when i do I use a push button call made by A Way outdoors called the turkey trooper 2000.Its pretty simple to use and sounds great. As the season progresses I call less due to the high hunting pressure around where i hunt.

get good at several different calls. I carry one box, one slate and buying a custom glass or crystal before season, and 3 or more mouth calls along with a crow, and I owl call by mouth. Ive not been turkey hunting long , but have gone with a 30 year veteran which is awesome to one on one" lessons", he says turkey calls are like music, and just like people turkeys like different types of music. the box might be rock, the slate might be country and sometimes you got to find what they like. I got good with a mouth call by keeping it with me on long drives to work and practicing with the hunter specialty CD to and from work. Good luck.
