First try and make sure that the wind is in your favor, even if it's not perfect try and buy even the cheap stuff at Walmart to wash your clothes in and spray yourself and boots with the morning you go out. Look for deer "sign" trails, scrapes, rubs eventually. Don't get too impatient when your happy with your spot, and don't get too anxious, just try and be still and quiet and wait. There's so much to learn, but I think these things are the basics.

From what I've heard about public lands is middle of the week if possible and go deep.
When you think you've gone far enough, keep going.

Good wind, sit still, eyes ears open and make sure you can hit. Oh and a good prayer to the bow gods won't hurt. Good luck

Wear a safety harness if in a tree stand. Hunt with a partner if possible. Make sure someone knows where you are hunting. Be safe first. Good luck.
