Welcome! Yes, your son is old enough to hunt and I highly recommend getting him into it with you. The earlier you start him the better off he will be. I just got my dad into hunting and archery and it's a awesome activity we enjoy together. Your son would need to take a hunters safety course to be able to get his hunting licence since he is under the age of 18. I suggest you take it with him because you learn a lot about the sport and the ethics of hunting in the class. Good luck and happy hunting!

First off, welcome to the forum!

With that said, one of the most important things you can do now is to check your local game laws to see what sort of requirements are set on first time hunters. Most states now require a hunter education class to be taken and passed before you can purchase a license and go hunting. That's going to be step #1.

Once you've taken your hunter safety class together and gotten your certification you can then purchase a license and start exploring the great sport of bowhunting.

I've never heard of rules that prohibit people from tagging along on your hunts and so long as they aren't hunting or carrying a weapon they should not need a license to be with you.

I know that in nj you can take a hunter safety class at 10 and get your license. Not sure about mass but it may be the same.
