I am looking to get more into filming my hunts, filmed my brothers bear hunt last year and now im hooked. I have an older jvc but looking to upgrade. Im in college so looking at a tight budget at the moment. Also any advise on what video editor program you guys use to would be great. Thanks
I think your going to need to be a little more specific on what your budget is. There is a huge price gap in cameras, and there is no doubt you get what you pay for. I think most would agree that Canon, Sony, and Panasonic are the companies you will probablly want to stick with. I prefer Canon but the other two def. make good cameras as well. Don't be to worried about the zoom 10x will do just fine especially if you are bowhunting. Most of your shots are going to come in low light situations so the quality of the sensor plays a huge role in how well the camera is going to work. If you look at the LUX of a camera in the specifications section of any webpage, this will tell you how well the camera will perform in low light. The lower the number the better the camera is going to work. Be aware though that some of the ratings for lux are with a lower shutter speed which will lead to a ghost like affect when things are moving. As far as editing software goes it's pretty much the same deal, you get what you pay for. I think for the money it is hard to beat Sony Vegas Pro, I have dabbled with adobe, which is a very powerful software, but its just very time consuming, and not as quick to edit as sony. Pinnacle isn't bad either, you just dont get as much as you do with Vegas. There is no doubt that you can fork over a lot of cash when getting into it, just depends on cash flow and how in depth you want to take it. A little at a time is usually the best way to get started. If you have any more questions on models of cameras or anything else feel free to PM me. One things for sure, capturing each hunt on film is awesome and allows you to share that memory with everyone for a lifetime!
campbellcameras.com They have everything you will need, that have some pretty decent small cameras that won’t break the bank. I was in the same boat with editing but I just got adobe premier elements 11 and i like it a lot it only runs around $100
