After several years of thinking about it, I am finally going to buy a bow and get into bowhunting. My question is. . .which bow? I am partial to Mathews. And I want to buy a nice bow now and not be looking to upgrade anytime soon. I have about $1100 to invest.

The boys running this sight seem to favor the solocam models

Mathews are good bows.. so are a lot of the other brands... go to the local bow shop and shoot everything in your price range... then the bow that feels the best is the one ya should buy

Just an suggestion. A top of line matthews or any other flagship setup will probably be a little more than 1100. I shoot an Elite and love it. The good thing about them is if you buy used you could get top of line everything on them and the warranty is Lifetime transferrable. Just an option. If youre deadset on Mathews my buddy just got a Creed on sale for around 700. But by time he decked it out he was back up around 1400

The one that feels best and fits you best... screw the name on the bow.... period. Try before buying... always.

Yes, warranty is important too and I don't think anyone touches the Elite warranty already mentioned.

In a couple months the left over 2015 go on sale. That's how I bought mine. Should hit the price point to. I would put your money into rest and release aid. Frist.

OK guys! Thanks for the tips! I definitely agree about finding what works best regardless of the name. dtimm--you are saying that I need to make sure and buy a quality rest and release?

Any archery shop worth a darn will let you try several types of bows and set ups. You will find out pretty quick what you like and what feels/shoots the best. If a shop try's to push you into one specific make/model then it's time to find a new shop.
With a $1100 budget you may want to set $300-400 aside for all of the accessories (sight, rest, release, arrows, broad heads, target, stabilizer).

OK, so I found a 2015 Mathews No Cam today. Since it has been a floor model they have discounted it some. I can get this bow as follows:

    Bow: $849
Package which includes fall away rest, stabilizer, peep sight, and 3-pin site: $149
    Arrows: $59

There may be a few other odds/ends. All together tax included would be $1175. Does this sound like a good deal?
